I just started treatment this week on 50 mg of minocycline and benicar. I am seeing an experience llmd in Maryland. my lyme symtoms began right after my surgery, 5 months ago, my igm (current) from Igenex shows positive for many strands, and my IGG is positive for only the 41 strand. I was treated for lyme around 2000. If my Igm is positive, does that mean I was reinfected before my surgery? Or was it dormant all these years and came out after surgery?
I am seeing floaters, my joints are cracking like crazy, and have so many other terrible symtoms. My neck cracks when I turn my head. little cracks. It is scary. I am running out of patience. My Doc says I must be patient and he is taking it slow so I will not herx badly. He said we will adjust abx next appointment (few weeks) . But is this dosage of abx killing the bacteria, and is the bacteria multiplying at the same time? That is what I don't get, if the abx is too low, will it prevent the bacteria from growing and causing new symptoms?
My doc said I should now feel more energetic from the abx. He is right, I am less fatigued.

I have been sick for about 15 weeks now. When I started my treatment I was very impatient. When will I feel better, what if this, what if that etc.
Unfortunatley Lyme teaches you patience. The battle is a marathon not a sprint. It took me a while to figure this out. I know you are scared but you are in the right place.
Everyone here understands what you are going through. I really dont know about the meds you are taking, but just wanted to fill you in on what I learned so far.
Some days are bad where you (or maybe I) feel like I am going to die, then maybe you have a better day the next day.
It is very unpredictable for me. I know I will feel sick just not how bad, or how much pain.
Since you say you are seeing a LLMD you are in it for the long haul. It will take a while. 15 weeks into treatment (including IV) I am not that
much better. I crunch and crack all day. I am now seeing a LLMD and on the right path. I am not trying to scare you but really try to take a deep breath and remember Marathon not a sprint!!
Hopefully someone will help with your q's about meds. Take care Melissa

Jenin, Hang in there! I am on my 3rd week of treatment with ceftin and azithromycin, and I feel like I have malaria and I am dying. The bottom line is I am not a doctor, but IMO, your antibiotics are kicking somethings A$$. Be strong and listen to the people who have gone through this longer than we have. I am very impatient too! cornhusker654

He did say that, and I am less fatigued. SO maybe that is what he meant. I have only been on treatment less than 1 week, we will see what happens next week. Jenin

I have been diagnosed with chronic Lyme and not sure when I was bitten as I had no rash or bite.
I started to feel very ill 15 weeks ago. I started on Doxy for 2 weeks then admitted to the hospital for CNS Lyme. I had a fever constantly for 13 weeks of up to 104. I have so many symptoms that it would take forever to list.
It was then that I went on IV Rocephin fo 3 1/2 weeks. I took 2-3 weeks off antibiotics while I waited for my LLMD appt. Now I am on Biaxin /Plaq.
My CNS symptoms are slightly better but other than that I am the same. I find it amazing that you feel better on only 1 week of antibiotics.
Did your doc warn you of a possible Herx where you will feel worse?

Ahh yes. I was impatient too. We are used to taking a Tylenol and the headache is gone, if we get a gut it heals in a couple of days.
Lyme is very different. It takes a while to notice improvement and feel better, but you have to stick with the program to get there. It took me many months to begin to feel better, not worse. The best thing someone told me is that it WILL get worse before it gets better, but it WILL get better. They were right.
About the crinkles - I was snap, crackle and pop for sure. I had the crunchy neck too. Then one day I woke up and realized it wasn't making those sounds anymore. I have pain in my other joints, but the noisy crunches are gone from my neck thank goodness.
Hang in there!
