as you know i've been having horrendous intestinal problems -- watery diahhrea every morning, abdominal pain and bloating, pain, not sleeping.
so here is the latest and i swear it's true. i get up in the morning and i smell poop -- like the dirty diaper kind. and no, i have not passed gas, nor have i gone in the bed!!
my mouth taste is horrible, absolute disgusting!!
can this be a symptom of something going on in the colon, sort of, backing up, so to speak? something is seriously wrong here -- it's not normal.
i noticed it at home and then we went camping and i noticed it in the park when i got up, so i know it's me, not the environment.
this is the craziest yet.
and, dang, the doctor was supposed to call with the lab results on friday, but here it is tuesday, and no call yet. hmmm, that could mean all tests results are normal, or he forgot...

This has happened to me once or twice before. With me, I think it was a detox symptom -- intestinal detox to be exact.
It could maybe be related to blockages in the colon (as hard as that might be to imagine with horrible diarrea!). Have you done a colon cleanse or parasite cleanse? These can definitely help with that symptom.

I think it's some kind of a hyperacusis symptom(though that may refer to hearing only)
I remember when some of my favorite foods smelled like a home permanent, and one old time member thought he smelled like a cat box though nobody else could smell it.
it'll go away.

I still haven't figured out if things I smelled (or tasted) actually smelled to other people. Sometimes I think I have something growing in my sinuses that has an odor to it - yeah - maybe even a poop odor at times.
Detox. Detox. Detox. Also, I would avoid all grains, dairy, eggs. For some reason I have a problem with root vegetables, too, now. Actually, if I told you what I've been eating day in and day out, you'd never believe me - I'm lucky I like canned peas.

I know the reason "poop" smells is because of the ammonia in it, and I cant remember if lyme produces ammonia....?

Randibear -- the herbal protocol you were on may have started a parasitic die-off that did not get completed. If it were me, I would probably try to sweep the area using some sort of intestinal and/or parasitic cleanse/detox -- one that I could tolerate better.
But be aware that the psyllium seed or husks that are used in many of those formulas can be irritating to the intestinal tract.
I agree that it could go away on its' own even without treatment. But it also does feel like something got left undone after the herbal mishap.
And that is just a feeling... not medical advice.

Yes, this can definitely be the reason. I cannot say exactly what is causing it but the autistic Lyme kid of my friend has/had this, too. These kids usually have huge gut problems.
The poop smell from his mouth disappeared the first time after she put him on a gluten- and casein-free diet but it came back after some weeks.
Then it disappeared again for good when he started to get Nystatin for his candida overgrowth. It was gone all the time until right now, when he had to go off Nystatin for a stool test. 4 days without Nystatin and the poop smell was back.
Could it be Candida in your case? Also, the diarrhea could be a sign for celiac disease. Or maybe both
Hope you find out what is causing it.
