My mother just started treating her long-standing Lyme with zithromax. She has had problems recently with edema in her feet and ankles. Might this be Lyme related? heart-related? What can she do to alleviate the swelling? She does have high blood pressure, but takes medication to treat it.

I have no idea what is causing it for your mom, but I recently found out that I am _majorly_ protein deficient (probably from the vomiting cause by Lyme, but perhaps not; going to check with Gastro).
I am a normal weight; apparently many doctors (I have heard) don't check protein levels unless you are underweight.
Protein deficiency was causing my edema.
With best wishes,

Interesting. Thanks for the reply - I'll pass it along to her and check in with our LLMD on Monday.

Bb needs NaCl for motility.
"Edema was produced in rats fed a diet low in protein and devoid of choline, vitamin B12 and folacin. The edema was prevented by dietary supplements of either choline, betaine or vitamin B12 or a combination of choline, folacin, and vitamin B12."
