"According to new research at the University of Virginia Health System, N-acetylcysteine (NAC), an anti-oxidant commonly used in nutritional and body-building supplements, can form a red blood cell-derived molecule that makes blood vessels think they are not getting enough oxygen.
"This leads to pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a serious condition characterized by high blood pressure in the arteries that carry blood to the lungs. The results appear in the September issue of the Journal of Clinical Investigation..."
(Keep in mind this was a study done in mice & not the same dose as human supplements.)

I tried this one and I about died taking it. I stopped it.
See, I like the way it is worded: "new research".
I take everything I read now with a grain of salt.
Take vitamin D, for instance. Vitamin D is great, unless, of course, you have high calcium levels.

I've been taking NAC for a year now to assist in making glutathione.
No problems, but no real benefits that I could tell either. I just ran out and had already determined I would not continue.
Thanks for this article which gives me another reason to stop NAC.

I gave up NAC a while ago & didn't feel a whole lot better on it. Glad I did
Thanks for the post

I took a few NACysteine pills last year and it apparently caused new varicosities in the veins of one leg, so i stopped taking it.
