just wondering....

i just added plaquenil (200mg 2x daily) to my current antibiotic tetracycline.

the doctor is using the plaquenil as an anti-inflammatory.

im 3 days into it and i feel like my symptoms are increasing in severity. increased bone/joint pain, shoulder/back pain, severe anxiety, trouble sleeping, pounding heart, and air hunger.

could this be a herx? if i had babs, would it be targeting that? or just lyme?

i don't remember reading that any of the symptoms i'm experiencing are side effects from the medication.

Yes, you can! It's a cyst-buster as well as an anti-malarial.

I had most of those increased symptoms too after adding plaquenil this summer to my daily abx. I thought it was a herx. These symptoms mostly faded over the first month on plaquenil. Hang in there.

Yes, I herxed off of Plaquenil too. We all herx differently, for me plaquenil knocked me out, it was like taking a sleeping pill.

Plaquenil did help with some of my Babesia symptoms, but my LLMD added it with other meds to treat Babesia.

Feel better soon...

Hello [Smile]

I took Plaquenil for about 6 years and man it was tough!
If you start to have bad stomach aches or pain around your back, let your Doctor know.

That's what happened to me, I was getting really bad stomach aches for a good year before I ended up in the Hospital with Pancreatitus. I can tell you, it hurts bad!

I got an appointment with my Gastroenterologist and he told me the Plaquenil can cause this and suggested I stop. The other cause is alcohol but I have not been a drinker for many years now.

So, just a little caution on that drug. [Smile]

Oh yeah! It made me really tired too, I slept a lot while I was on that one. I'm taking Amantadine now as a replacement and Azithromycin as a replacement for the Biaxin.

Steve
