For those knowledgeable about heavy metals. I just did a heavy metals challenge with 500 mg of oral DMPS. I'm not having any flare since taking the DMPS.

While I'm waiting for the test results to come back, can I be pretty confident that I don't have a problem since I didn't flare? Or can I still have a heavy metal load and not flare from chelating?

Flare or no flare does not matter. I contend that everyone with chronic illness has an issue with metals as part of the problem. In fact, even if the test shows no problem, that is often the worst case scenario is it can mean that your body does not know how to excrete metals. These tests are not much better than tests for Lyme.

Just like six, I had no flare and I was positive for lead and mercury.

Like Scott says, I have heard that if you don't show metals it could mean your body can't excrete them.

But frankly, it could also mean metals are not a problem for you. I'm betting your tests come back positive for something. If it does not, I would focus on the things that are showing up positive and deal with them first. Later you can test again.

I took DMSA pills (prescribed by the doctor) and did the 6 hr urine challenge and sent to Doctor's Data.

Many months later, my doctor explained that it was just a small amount of DMSA and that my test results were just the tip of the iceberg.

I did an IV with DMPS and then a 24 hours urine challenge with Doctor's Data. I did this before and after chelating my Mercury over a year ago.

My Lyme Dr. had me repeat the test last week to make sure I'm still OK.

Thanks guys.

I did doctor's data. First a 24 hour urine catch for toxic metals and essential elements and then took 500 mg of oral DMPS and did a 7 hour urine catch test for toxic metals.

Sent to Doctors Data.

I've now gotten a headache that's been around for 36 hours, so I think I am flaring.
