With symptoms and those results, I'd say you need to see an LLMD.

Band 31 is Bb specific and if I am correct, it is what the lyme vaccine was made out of.
Many people never show + on band 31. I think that I have also read somewhere, can't remember exactly WHERE, that band 31 shows up mostly in late stage disease.
Your ++ 0n 31 and symptoms would have me high tailing it to see a LLMD. Just my opinion.

According to my LLMD Dr. C, you are positive and need to be treated further.
Good luck.

Six weeks of doxy didn't wipe out your lyme antibodies. You still show positive with borrellia antibodies.
I've heard and seen it said that once positive for lyme antibodies always lyme positive for antibodies? But I don't know that as fact, because I don't believe I ever heard or seen it in print from someone that knows the real story like the great Dr C in Missouri?
I'll be watching for posts from some lyme patients of LLMD's that should know.

That is because the non-Lyme Literate Doctor doesn't know how to read a Western Blot!
Sheesh!
All is not fine. If you have symptoms and that Western Blot, please get to
A LLMD asap and get started on real treatment.

You still have Lyme fella. Sorry, there ain't any other way about it.
You are still symptomatic, you have Bb specific antibodies. Pretty straightforward. find a doctor (LLMD)please.

quote:Originally posted by 6t5frlane: Why the changing on the IGG and IGM. I've probably had this a long time
from Dr C's explanation of the WB:
"With most infections, your immune system first forms IgM antibodies, then in about 2 to 4 weeks, you see IgG antibodies. In some infections, IgG antibodies may be detectable for years.
Because Borrelia burgdorferi is a chronic persistent infection that may last for decades, you would think patients with chronic symptoms would have positive IgG Western blots.
But actually, more IgM blots are positive in chronic borreliosis than IgG. Every time Borrelia burgdorferi reproduces itself, it may stimulate the immune system to form new IgM antibodies.
Some patients have both IgG and IgM blots positive. But if either the IgG or IgM blot is positive, overall it is a positive result.
Response to antibiotics is the same if either is positive, or both. Some antibodies against the borrelia are given more significance if they are IgG versus IgM, or vice versa.
Since this is a chronic persistent infection, this does not make a lot of sense to me. A newly formed Borrelia burgdorferi should have the same antigen parts as the previous bacteria that produced it.
But anyway, from my clinical experience, these borrelia associated bands usually predict a clinical change in symptoms with antibiotics, regardless of whether they are IgG or IgM."
