Two months ago, my doctor added Plaquenil (200mg 2x daily)to my long laundry list of meds. He said I was to take it to help with my connective tissue inflammation, but that it maybe take a month or so to see any results.
I've been patient but I'm at the end of my rope. I have NEVER experienced pain between my shoulders, in my back, and along my ribs the way I have after starting this med. I can't even describe the pain. I imagine it feels like being crushed by an elephant or run over by a car. My entire upper body is sore. Some days it's a struggle to breath because I'm so tight that I can't take deep breaths.
My headaches have also flared, I've had some hot flashes, and my abdominal pain comes and goes. I eat Klonopin and Tramadol like it's candy just to take the edge off and try to relieve the pain to a managable degree.
When is it going to end? I thought the Plaquenil was supposed to help me, not make me feel like I'm dying.
How do I determine if I feel so miserable because I'm herxing or if it's the side effects of the med?

I took plaq when I was dx with lupus and I had a bad reaction. Prob a herx, but didn't know it at the time. I took it for 2 months and really, it did nothing for me. Made me feel worse.
Are you detoxing. If you're eating meds like candy, you could be very toxic hence why you're not feeling well?

Plaq (from the drug store) has propylene gylcol in it. I am very sensitive to this chemical. It makes me drunk, spacey, lightheaded and balance gets off (worse than what it is already)
So I have to get the plaq compounded with just the active drug, no fillers. I don't know why they have to stick that crap in our meds/drugs.
Plaq/Zithromax is a Babesia combo also. My doc put me on Plaq for the HLA DR4 genotype problem.
