Start slow with maybe one a day and work your way up. It has bromelain in it which can potentiate any antibiotics you are on. So if you take too many at first you could have a really big herx and it might not hit until you had been on it for a few days.

Parisa,
What is bromelain and is it bad and counterproductive if it penetrates abx?

When you took it, did you have any success with it?

It's similar to heparin, nattokinase, serrapeptase, rechts-regulat, etc.

They basically reduce fibrin in your blood and make it flow thinner, less viscous.

Most Lyme sufferers, I think 80%-90% of them, have hypercoagulation, or thickening of blood due to increased fibrin content. Borrelia spirochetes lay down fibrin in order to "hide out" and not be detected by the body's natural killer cells. Of course, fibrin would also render abx less effective because of poor visibility.

I think any of the above supplements combined with niacin would be effective in cleaning out remaining spirochetes and other organisms (heparin has known effect against babesia).

Niacin dilates capillaries to increase blood flow and oxygen throughout your body. So to summarize: dilate the vessels with niacin and decrease blood viscosity with enzymes.

Laura,

There is actually research out there that shows that bromelain potentiates antibiotics. I don't have it at my fingertips right now there are studies showing that it makes the antibiotics work better.

My husband took it. I thought we had started out slow but he was hit by a definite herx about 4 days into it. He is on the more sensitive side though.

I just had a phone consult yesterday with my LLMD and she reccommended papain and bromelain for the muscle pain that I get. Which makes sense, when I read these posts as the pain does feel like ischemic type pain.

I have Lyme, babesia and HME.

I've been on very low dose IV Rochephin for the past year (50mg) because of my extremely poor tolerance of antibiotics. We just increased it to 75mg and hopefully to 100mg in about a month.

I'm also restarting Mepron at 1 ml/wk after stopping for a few months due to a bad depression in response to that drug.

So, I guess I'm worried about doing anything that might cause the herxing to get worse, but at the same time this sounds like something that might be helpful.

I'd be interested in hearing more of people's experiences with these enzymes.

Thanks, Susan
