I was clinically diagosed with bart, barbs and lyme. So far my LLMD has only tried rocephin+zithromax, and when I asked him what else can we try, he sounded like no matter what abx we use, there are so many other bugs we don't know of, so my current abx combo should be fine, even though I'm not feeling better now.

I asked him to add levaquin for my bart and he agreed, but will stop zithromax. So from next week I'll be on IV rocephin + levaquin.

I also asked him on Igenex lab test since I haven't done any, he's open to that but said it's up to me since there are many false negatives.

I guess my concern is, how can we know we are having the "right" abx to hit so many different types of infections? I'm not sure if I should seek other LLMDs out-of-state who may be more experienced prescribing different abx combo's? Rocephin+Zithromax that I've been having can't hit all for sure...

Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas? I think I begin to lose faith in this LLMD. And without faith, things may get worse faster.

Thanks!

Rocephin and levaquin [Eek!] !

Wow.

I can't remember how many antbx combo's I've been on.

Some I couldn't take due to adverse side effects.

Some didn't really make a big difference.

Some were/are great!

My husband has the same problem. Can't seem to find his antibx "cocktail".

He gets frustrated with this easily too.

I am going into my 17th month of treatment.

Just remember.....this isn't a sprint.

Slow and steady will ultimately win the race.

Some members didn't see a definite improvement with rocephin until their 6th month.

How long have you been treating?

A test from Igenex, if you have been on antibiotics for more than 30 days,

May not be a realistic picture.

Hugs,

Geneal

I started out on Doxy, Mepron, Biaxin, Artemisia.

I added Plaquenil to that mix.

I switched doxy to mino.

I dropped the mino and started Amoxicillin/Probenecid (still taking the Mepron, Biaxin, Artemisia and Plaquenil).

I had a gut infection and dropped the Amoxy/Probenecid, added Cipro.

Went back to the Amoxy Probenecid.

Then dropped the Amoxy/Probenecid, Mepron, and Biaxin, and added Levaquin, mino, malarone, Tindamax, and lariam to the plaquenil and artemisia.

Now I'm feeling better and am on mino, lariam, plaquenil, and Full Cowden.

I have been on Nystatin, supplements and probiotics the whole time.

Geneal, thanks, but why Rocephin and levaquin sounds so terrifying? Too heavy? [confused]

I've been on IV rocephin+zithromax for a month now, but didn't feel any improvement. Before that when I first really started treatment last April, tried oral rocephon+zithromax and within a month I felt well! So bad I stopped abx in August and two months later I saw the symptoms come back and again began oral in November but this time, it's slow...

So I guess if I should ask to try other combo's...

[bonk]

sixgoofykids, so your LLMD is diligent trying new abx for you.

How come I feel my LLMD just wants to put me on the same combo, and if no improvement, then just stick with it for longer time? [confused]
