Here are a few replies for this question, from the other day.

I did not have any bad effects from multiple shots.

Check out spine universe, there maybe other options for pain control. Good luck.

Just about the worst thing you could have prescribed for you while infected with a TBI.

Is your doctor aware of the fact that you carry an infection/s at this time?

You may gain some relief temperarily from this injection however the long term consequences would be very bad.

While not knowing, I had TBI's, I had several cortisone injections over the years. None of

them gave me lasting relief. If your doctor prescribed these injections. If it were me, now

knowing about the complications that could arise, without specifity, I would ask the good

doctor if he guaranteed the outcome and that the cortisone would'nt cause you problems?

zman
P.S. I'll bet a dollar to a doughnut your doctor won't guarantee anything!

It was a cortisone injection that set off latent lyme in me. Cortisone injections (I've heard) can also activate viral infections when given in the spine. Oral steriods can activate both lyme and viruses.

I will never be able to do steroids again. I have both lyme and viral infections.

I had two over a period of six months for a torn rotator cuff and adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder).

My LLMD gave me a green light to do it and said they would remain localized.

I can honestly say they haven't made me any worse and the second shot helped a great deal with shoulder pain.

I'd take my LLMD's advice!

A few alternative suggestions......... acupuncture has helped me with pain. I go at least 2 times a month ...... more if I can. Another therapy that can help is myofascial release massage. Look this up and read about it ........... very helpful with pain relief.

Personally, I would never have cortisone injections unless it was a life and death situation. I know they say it is local but it has to be processed through your body somehow. If it stayed in there and did not move anywhere else then there would be no reason the effect would wear off. I do not buy the "local and does not go anywhere else" business.

I would at least try other options before injecting cortisone. The pain doc is suggesting this because that is the training they received. There are other, less risky, ways to address this problem. They are probably not as quick a fix as the injections but they are also wayyyyy less risky for a lyme patient.

Just my non-medical opinion,
robi
