Is the risk of C.Diff & Colitis etc. really that much greater with Clindamycin than other abx??
Have other Clindamycin users had these problems?
Or what extra precautions have others taken while on Clinda to prevent this?
Thanks in advance for replies!

Clindamycin is the # 1 offender for causing c.diff. In fact it is so dangerous it has caused death in many patients. Avoid Clindamycin at all costs. There are other antibiotics to treat Lyme disease and co-infections without resorting to Clindamycin.
I would never take Clindamycin, I have seen first hand people die from taking it.

If I had to take it I would, and just watch out for the runs. I dont think I could handle it. But I never tried. Using lariam instead and doing okay so far.

I've been taking Clindy (on the MP) now off and on for 18 months w/o problems. Sure, it's low dose, pulsed oral -- maybe that matters. It's very effective, at least in this protocol.

I was on Clindamycin for 4 months and had no problems. I did take lots of probiotics.

I took it off and on for nearly two years. No trouble, but I take plenty of probiotics.
I would recommend you take something with s.boulardi in it. NuFerm's Wholefoods Probiotics contains it....or you can get s.boulardi from Allergy Research Group.
Good to hear some positive feedback - although WildCondor, your post really scared me until I read the others!!
Sounds like it is def worth a try....along with lots of extra probiotics etc.
Having done many months of Zith, Malarone and Art, and recently added Septra and Lariam to that mix, my LLMD now wants to try something a bit different.....stopping Mal & Art and doing Zith, Lariam and Clindamycin instead, with pulsed Septra later. A bit unusual but am willing to try it. He seems to be keeping Quinine as a last resort!

If you do some research, Clindamycin and c.difficile, you will see how many people have died from this. if you are very lucky, you will not get c.diff, but if you do, you will understand my point very quickly! You will go from desperately wanting your Clindamycin to doing everything in your power to avoid antibiotics at all costs.
