Just something I thought about the other night. Do you think those who have Lyme Disease will have a shorter life span? I guess you will never know for sure because you never now how long you will live had you not been infected. What do you think? The goal of taking all these antibiotics is to be in "remission". But when we're older and our immune system isn't as good will Lyme Disease keep coming back..?

IMO long term antibiotics can lead to a weakened immune system and leave one open to more problems. And long term can and does lead to degenerative changes especially in the heart, joints and nervous system.

Probably. I know the quality of life won't be so cool.

I believe that both of my parents had lyme, but they did manage to live to be ages 78 and 81.

But the quality of life the last 10-15 yrs was pretty bad.

Yes that might be true for lyme arthritis .How about neurolyme ?

What about the kids that are born with Lyme and company and have active lyme infections?

God knows!

My grandmother had Lyme since her early childhood. Had about the same symptoms as I have now. She never got antibiotics.

She died at age 89 after an operation for colon cancer.

My former neighbor had Lyme since her youth. Was not treated. When I moved away she was around 87 and still counting.

i firmly believe my mom has lyme. she's 83 but the quality of life for her the last 10 years or so has been terrible.

she has never been treated for it.
