Could it be yeast? Yeast makes my tongue very sticky & dry.

I don't think I've ever had it as badly as what you are talking about Roro, but I know that even before my diagnosis, the dentist was always commenting on my dry mouth.

At the time, I was on so many "bandaid" perscription meds for all the diseases I don't really have....but I do know that many perscription meds has "dry mouth" as a side effect.

Not sure if that could be a contributing factor, but since I know that some meds I've been put on with lyme even now have caused the dry mouth in variuos extremes.

i have added lyrica to my meds, and that may be when it got worse. yeast may also be a factor.

I will try the recommendations, thanks

Don't forget snoring. It may also contribute to dry mouth. I also have to sleep with a sleep apnea machine which is a contributor.

Betty's advise is what I do. Drink thru the night. Of course that has a down side too. lmt

Dry mouth can be caused by many medications. I know which one of mine causes it, and it helps to have a full glass of water whenever I take that pill.

You might want to look at sjogren's syndrome - autoimmune condition that can cause inflammation of the salivary glands...

Also there are salivia substitutes that might provide some relief for you- I have never used any and have no info on brands etc but here is a list of the types of product I am talking about
http://www.nextag.com/saliva-substitute/search-html

good luck - hope you feel better soon

My immune system is all confused - I definitely have an autoimmune component to my illness, so I imagine Lyme and co. could result in a Sjogren's type illness.

I just googled Lyme and Sjogren's syndrome and it seems there can be a correlation.

Hi, all of us in my family w/LD have had this symptom.

Come to think of it, I think 3 of us including me have a deviated septum, which force one to sleep w/their mouth open. Mine gets very dry at night even now once in awhile.

I use to feel like this all day though and I could not get enough water. It disappeared w/treatment.

Make sure you stay well hydrated throughout the day..drink water while you are awake throughout the day. So important. (Nothing replaces straight water, not coffee, tea, gatorade etc., water is water and it is very necessary especaily with all the medications we take).

My daughter has used Oasis mouth spray, especially before she goes to sleep at night.

She also keeps sugar free mints by her bed to suck on.

The best thing for blocked salivary glands is a warm compress on the jaw area, and sucking a lemon. It forces the salivary glands to work, dislodging the blockage.

I am also wondering if swishing with a sunflower or coconut oil would also get the saliva glands working.
