i have a terrible time deciphering what i read (for some time now)medical jargon is over my head

CMV is Cytomeglovirus (sorry for spelling) It is a virus and is seen in many chronic illnesses. IgG means it is an old immune response, whereas IgM means more recent exposure. But please speak with your doctor. Juts because it is IgG doesnt mean it is not having a an affect now.
good Luck and best wishes!

I am IgG positive for CMV - according to my ILADS LLMD IgG is of no concern you need a positive IgM titer to be actively infected with any/all viruses.
There are other Md's who disagree - and believe IgG positive viruses need treatment (CMV - Valcyte) but my LLMD is very smart, knows a lot about viruses was frontline in HIV in the 80's so he knows a lot about viruses and claims the doctor's who say IgG is active infection are simply wrong.
our llmd is very imformative, i think that if he was concerned about this he would have called and not just sent the copy in the mail
i will call him today, just trying to decide what is causing headaches - don't want to overlook anything

It honestly depends on how high the IgG is. A very high titer may mean active infection.
She should also get tested for other viruses...HHV-6, EBV, Parvo.
See www.hhv-6foundation.org for further info. Good links there as well as a patient's forum.
