Hi. I'll be going off of IV after a 9 week course. I've been on a lowfat diet to protect my gallbladder, BUT . . . I'm supposed to go on vacation right after I finish.

The PA at my llmd said that I only have to wait 3 days to eat fat, but that seems very short.

How long should you wait after doing IV to eat a regular fat diet?

Thanks.

We have to avoid fat if we're on IV Rocephin?

Our LLMD recommends staying on Actigall to prevent bile sludging and other gallbladder problems, but didn't mention avoiding fats.

Gallbladder cleanse is Olive oil & lemon.

[confused]

Maybe it's meat fat?

I hadn't heard that either.

[confused]

It's all a balance. Battling Lyme, you want to in any case be consciencious about diet. I found eating organic made a noticeable difference. At certain times I did eat a certain amount of cheese, when it felt right. Vacations are fun even if you watch what you eat! You should maximize your health so you can put illness behind you as quickly as possible. I wish you continuous improvement!

I have been on Rocephin for a long while as long as you take 600mg Ursodoxycholic/Destolit 3x a day you are covered and also drink a spoon of siberian Pine nut oil.

I have never watched any fat I eat when on Rocephin and follow the above - its the bile sectreation you need to keep moving with the urso

rocephin gunks up your gall bladder, among other things, for sure.

i was on the prophylactic actigall throughout my iv course, and i believe it helped.
after iv i did intensive cleansing of all the organs and had results that more than justified the need to cleanse.

in retrospect, i don't think i should have gone at it so intensely.
i think i would have been just as well, if not better, to go slow and easy.
first colon and kidney cleanse so you are clear to process the cleansing of the upper organs, then onto liver and gb cleanse with (i.e.) the morning drink including lemon, garlic, and Tbsps of olive oil. (this is available on the web as a pretty classic cleansing drink. i like the taste, some people can't take it)

even just drinking fresh squeezed lemon water, warm or at room temp, first thing in the a.m. will go a long way to cleansing the biliary tract.

on the fat issue, the gb needs good fats in order to function properly, but if you have a clogged gb which is likely, eating alot of fat after being on low fat so long could cause it to purge.

if you get signs of digestive distress, that might be why.

i'm offering nothing more than ideas that may or may not be helpful regarding reintroduction of healthy fats in the diet while gently cleansing the accumulated toxins. this could also possibly guard against chronic issues with digesting fats that many lyme patients aquire.

something more "user friendly" could be julia chang's herbs (she's out of canada, very informative site, very nice lady.) andreus moritz has a couple of good books - tho he advocates for the hard core liver cleanse. (it works, but you need alot of motivation to do it, and a weekend off each time for a series of them)
whether or not you do the major cleanse, books like these are very informative on the gb and liver health in general, and most importantly, getting to know your body.

i've read a library of health, detox, organ functioning health books over my years with lyme, and it all seems to boil down to the same basic yet powerful principles.
you can accomplish a great deal through diet and
simple, daily remedies.

the center of health is in the digestive system,
it's also the center of our immune systems.
lyme and antibiotics greatly burden that system. as a result of that, i had an overall sick feeling apart from active lyme. (not to mention five strains of systemic candida)
i needed the ab's, but i also very much needed to take great care of my organs in order to transition well off of the meds.

once i started paying good attention to all of this, everything worked better, including further lyme treatments.

in any event, all the best in your transition off of iv, and enjoy your vacation!
