Hi,

Dr. H in CA prescribed me bicillin-LA 1.2, 2x/week. I finished the last of the first tray (10 injections) last monday, and didn't get my next injection until today (wednesday). I've been trying to contact Dr. H all week to see if that was too long of a wait between injections, but of course no one got back to me. Now, I'm trying to find out if I can get another injection tomorrow and still mimic the effect of my usual schedule of 1st injection Mon, 2nd injection Wed or Thurs.

Now it turns out I can't even leave a message for Dr. H as the voice mailbox doesn't seem to be working. Has anyone done Bicillin on consecutive days and how did you react to it?

Thanks so much,
joey

i just finished doing 1.2 bicillin for five days in a row. It did not effect me any differently than if i took the shot spaced out. My llmd tells me that in europe it is not uncommon for doctors to prescribe 1.2 bicillin units everyday for six weeks.

Hi Joey,
Bicillin LA is VERY long acting...one shot lasts at LEAST 2 WEEKS. I have seen people prescribed for instance one Monday and one on Friday.

When I was on Bicillin I'd skip doses entirely (because they last forever)when I was herxing to hard...this is minor really, I seriously don't think this matters at all.

I know his office is very hard to get a hold of...it is the only reason I have not gone to see him. People love him, but I've heard getting a hold of him is hard.

onjo - I swear I thought I'd heard it all in my 2 years on lyme boards...but I have never heard of doing bicillin la everyday! Even if you mean bicillin CR that would be crazy, benzathine is in both and last EXTREMELY long. That doesn't sound right..seriously.

If they are doing that in Europe they are risking patients lives, seriously, a severe herx can kill, ask any (preferably ILADS) LLMD. This is one reason the IDSA doesn't believe we have chronic Lyme..they don't believe we are herxing...this is all of this is from the last ILADS pres when I talked to him.

To kill syphilis 2.4 one time per week for 3 weeks is prescribed...and that is as close to Bb as you can get.

thanks for the responses, onjo and lymebytes.

i just spoke to Dr. T, the LLMD that works with Dr. H in Malibu, and he said NOT to get injected on consecutive days. I think I'll err on the side of caution and wait til next week.

I didn't know bicillin can be active in the body for at least 2 weeks! That would explain why I was still clearly feeling the effects more than 1 week after my the last one.

I did bicillin la 1.2 million units per day for five straight days and it had minimal effect on me. I tolerated it no problem. Also i regulary take it 3x per week for about 5 months now. I have never had a problem with it once.

My LLD has me taking Bicillin shots, 1.2 mu, two of them on the same day, not on two different days of the week, so 2.4 on one day.

I see in Byron's post his clinic has him doing the same thing. So I can't possibly imagine how two days in a row could be a problem.
