Are others getting a thick coating on their tongue on flagyl or other antibiotics? This is driving me crazy. What can I do about it other than drinking loads of water?

Gargled with hydrogen peroxide and water and seems to help, for others with this same problem.

Don't have any. In doing a little research, I'm finding this is probably fungal related or possible thrush. Is there anything natural I can do? I hate to take another drug.

Your doctor did not outline this?
A candida (avoidance) diet - no processed sugars. No breads. If you eat fruit, only the darkest berries, after a meal.
PROBIOTICS
Similar but not the same: FLORASTOR - www.florastor.com (be sure to talk to your doctor first, but this can help prevent c. diff. - and that, I'm sure your doctor has talked to you about.
Some may add: Olive Leaf Extract or Allicin - but would still need the probiotics and could need special timing with meds.
There are prescription antifungals such as nystatin, nizorale (sp?), and diflucan. Nystatin is the easiest on the body. the others can be hard on the liver.

No, my dr. didn't tell me about any of this. I do know about taking probiotics and take them everyday along with additional acidophilus (away from my antibiotics.
What is C.Diff??? Nope, he never mentioned that either.

acidophilus is just one type of probiotic. It's best to have a broad range.
Good, though, that you do take acidophilus.
yes, you need that every day, a couple times a day. If you look on the bottle of the capsules, what you are taking may have several strains included. that would be good.
c. diff - when all the good bacteria are destroyed in your intestinal tract, c. diff is an infection that can take over.
to a certain extent, acidophilus will help. But, as some point, more protection is needed. You can read about this at www.florastor.com
Sorry to drop this on you. and maybe your acidophilus has more protection all built in. check out the label.
and . . . you can break open a capsule into your mouth to ease the thrush - of acidophilus (NOT florastor, though -you don't want to breath in florator).
NO Carbs, sugar, They all feed the yeast. ITs a process you will need to follow until you are WELL off antibiotics.

I cant believe your doctor didnt send you home with a good probiotic and advise of yeast!

I have a question about Florastor. I saw this recommended before, but when I check it has yeast in it and it says not to use with diflucan or antifungals.
Is this a different kind of probiotic that is used in certain situations??

Couldn't the coating be an overload of toxins being released? Like when you have a flu/cold and sometimes you get a coating on your tongue. When you are "dextoxing", this can happen.

There are 3 antibiotics which for me are immediate yeast growers.
One is rifampin.
Second is augmentin.
Third is flagyl.
Flagyl will completely clean you out of all the good flora.
I had to really restrict my diet and take diflucan (more than 2 x a week) to
Make any headway against yeast on flagyl.
While adding another med may sound like too much work (for yourself and your body),
Diflucan is also known to hit Lyme.
May be worth checking into.

Thanks General. Yes, it is true. When I was on the Doxy for 3 weeks, I didn't have this problem. After only a few DAYS on Flagyl, that is when everything went out of whack. I just hate introducing yet another drug into my body. But I suppose I have no choice if I'm going to stay on the antibiotics.
