Just a quick vent about my family dr, well not anymore, who refused a simple blood test last week.

I was just in last Friday to get a simple blood test that was ordered up by my LLMD to track my iron levels and liver, kidney, etc, function from being on the protocol.

My pcp refused the blood draw. He said he didnt agree with the treatment, and therefore wouldnt do the blood test. Even though I had the lab sheet in my hand signed by my LLMD, my hmo dr refused to do it. If its not approved by an hmo dr, they wont do it.

I told my pcp that due to his unprofessionalism, I was cancelling any future apptmts with him, and wouldnt use him as a dr anymore. I was also going to tell the rest of my family to dump him as well.

Rediculous... you pay for coverage, and you get nothing.

Ive already contacted my local hospital and they said they would do it, so Ill find out tonight if they will or not. Down the road, we'll be contacting the state insurance board about the lack of cooperation from the hmos drs, and also go after repayment for charges due to them misdiagnosing it.

HMO drs...what a serious waste of time and money!!

Whats most upsetting to me is that just because my PCP doesnt agree with the LLMD protocol, they are refusing all treatment. I pay for hmo care, and they are denying it. The next time my health coverage open enrollment period comes, Ill be seriously looking at POP benefits where I can go anywhere for health care.

And I agree, its sickening when you know more then the drs about lyme. I know then the neuro who said it was anxiety, and more then my former pcp who thought was post concussion.

Why dont PCP and HMOs acknowledge LLMDs ability and technical skill?

Instead we have cookie cutter hmo drs who dont have a clue, and the patients suffer.

Im just thankful that I am in treatment through mhy llmd and Im getting better...no thanks to the hmos...

Its really infuriating. I went to an infectious disease doctor in the beginning, and of course they said I didnt have lyme--my test with labcorp was a False Positive. yea right!

I too had many symptoms and an earlier rash and high fever that I didnt attribute to lyme at the time I got it. (winter)

I mailed them a letter with a piece of my mind in it and a copy of Dr. B's guidelines!!

i think it's really the insurance companies calling the shots.

if the docs order too many or the wrong tests or give out wrong meds the ins companies make it impossible for them to practice.

however-they will gladly give you the drugs they get kickbacks for from the drug companies

i don't know the answer. it's sucha mess...but national health care won't help...unless they recognise lyme

I think you should have asked him to sign a waiver saying that he refused to draw your blood for normal bloodwork (heck, you weren't asking for a freaking WB!)

When my LLMD sends me elsewhere for bloodwork, I just go to a CPL... no need for doctors or hospitals.
Went today matter of fact.

Yes, the insurance doctors call a lot of the shots. However, in this case it seems like a doctor trying to put a patient "in their place."

I hope you can find a real doctor who will work with you and your specialist.

If there is a local support group around, you may get some guidance there.

Well, if this dr was trying to put me in his place, he failed, miserably. I am no longer going to be a pawn to the health care industry or the hmo drs who are ignorant and put their cdc/hmo protocols above my health.

Yesterday I went to my local hospital, the one thats used with my hmo plan. Not one problem. I showed them the LLMD script/lab order sheet, and they entered it into their system and I had it done. Granted I had to sign a waiver that if my insurance wont pay for it I will, but so what. I would have paid for it if I went to see my llmd hrs away too.

So if my dr thought he could manipulate me to avoid a blood test...he failed. Blood test was taken, and I continue on with my llmd protocol. Ive also cancelled all future apptmts with my pcp, and told my family to dump him as well.
