I tested negative for Babs, but have had a hint of symptoms recently. LLMD put me on Mepron and Zith. I've been searching and reading, but I still have some questions. Can you all please help me out. Here they are...

Is one teaspoon twice a day enough?
I read that this isn't an effective dose. I think my doc started me on this dose to see how I fared. Which brings me to my next question...

What's the herx like?
I'm on day 4 and haven't really felt anything. Between the Mepron and Zith I expected full on nausea and diarrhea. Nothing. In fact, if anything, I seem to have the opposite problem.

I have noticed a slight upswing in overall symptoms, but nothing even close to the herx I got when starting other new abx.

What's the best way to take it?
I read that Milk Thistle should be avoided for a couple of hours before/after taking. Is there anything else?

I also read about eating it with fatty food. That's fine, but what about the Zith. Should I take that earlier/later on an empty stomach? That's what I've traditionally done in the past. I take my herbs and stuff with food.

Thanks. Much appreciated! If you have any other tips or tricks with this combo I'd be happy to hear them.

Best.
/CT

Hi!

2 teaspoons/day is the starting dose. After a few weeks it's usually raised to 3-4 teaspoons/day. Make sure you take the Mepron with fatty foods every time so it is absorbed. Anything like avocado, butter, olive oil, something with fat in it.
Good that you have no side effects. Your doses may need to be increased. How much Zithromax are you taking?

Just because you don't have a herx doesn't mean it's not helping. I haven't had a herx on Mepron either and I just started it (I'm on my fifth full day). It's actually made me have mostly good days since starting it. And having a good reaction to it is another indication that it's working/doing its job.

When you say "usually", whos standards are you referring to? Dr. B's?

Is that dosage what you started out with or did you ramp up like you mentioned previously?

Thanks!!
