So I've been reading on here about epsom salt
baths, infared and saunas. I tried the Epsom
salt bath for 15-20 mins and had the most
debilatating headache afterwards. I fell asleep
in fetal position and woke up fine. Has anybody
had this type or reaction? Was that a herx?

Sorry to hear about your reaction. For lyme patients, the nervous system(s) can be very stressed from heat. And the headache could be from dehydration &/or inflammation (which heat can worsen).
A hot bath will nearly paralyze me for at least two days. Time after time.
I have learned that warm baths work better but still, that would be my main event for that day and probably unable to even much at all the next day.
Be sure to drink lots of water and replenish your minerals / electrolytes.
Don't give up on a bath, though, but if you can go with warm water, see how you do.

for me it would be the heat alone - especially the moist heat.
I had to stop taking baths as I always became light-headed and then faint in them, and I had to be very careful with showers: keep them lukewarm and get out quickly.
I can handle showers better after years of treatment, but sometimes at the Y, when all the showers are running and it gets steamy in there, I start to feel light-headed.
I would never go near a sauna - just the idea terrifies me!
I do have an infra-red heating pad and sometimes placing that on my back has made my brain feel "fuzzy".

My first very warm bath with salts in it almost did me in.
I had a display of fireworks going off in front of my eyes.
I almost didn't make it out of the bathtub.
Really thought I was going to expire right then and there.
I believe that the extremely warm bath temperature (hot),
Created a die off of toxins and caused a herx reaction for me.
I learned to start with warm water and work my time up from about 5 minutes to 20.
Hope this helps.
Hugs,
