Our insurance will not pay for Malarone. Does anyone know where to buy this for a good price. My pharmacy is charging $230.00 for 30.

Costco has better prices on Malarone and you do not need to be a member to use their pharmacy.

I think they will mail you your meds and you can have the Rx faxed in to them. Call and find out or go to their website. I know they have the best prices on Malarone because I researched it before.

I'm not sure if it's okay to put a link to a website here, but another member suggested a canadian pharmacy to me for Mepron (which my great insurance won't cover).
The cost is roughly half, and I checked Malarone, and their price is about half also.
I called them, they do this very limited power of attorney or something similar, limited just to them being given the power to handle a prescription for you.
They were nice, helpful, quick. And I received it about 8 days later.

Yes, 'malarone' is expensive! It's true that some foreign pharms may have it for quite a bit less.
But another thing to consider, and talk to your doc about:
When I was attacking the babesia, while I did take 'malarone', I also took artimesia anua, or, sometimes, its derivative, artimisinin, along with garlic, too. I believe these herbals were very effective- they are used in the chinese- medicine and have been shown to be very effective in treating malaria (same class of bug as babesia); incorporating these would probably cause you to need far less of the atovaquone ('mepron' or 'malarone') for your successful treatment. Artimesia, and artimisinin as well, are very inexpensive. And garlic, too. Good luck to you! DaveS

I will check out Costco. MV.. can you let me know the Canadian website.
My daughter is taking Zhangs Artemisae.
This is the 3rd time babs is being treated. Our old insurance covered this. We are already paying for IV doxy out of pocket. Thanks for the suggestions.

Let us know what you find out because in 2007 I think I checked and could not find it for less from Canada.
Don't make my mistake. I only took one Malarone pill a day and that probably from what I am hearing now was just a waste of money and not enough Malarone.
