I am starting flagyl soon and I was wondering if some of the side effects mentioned such as paresthesia (tinging, burning, numbness) are permanent damage or just side effects while taking it.
I often get these symptoms as part of the illness and also they increase during a normal herx.
I am just concerned how to determine it its a side effect or a herx once I start it.
I am unable to get tinidazole unfortunately as my doctor could only prescribe it 4 tablets at a time.
Thanks
Kelly

Like you, my neuropathy symptoms persist after 6 mos. of treatment. Balance issues, burning and numbness in my feet. The symptoms were worse before abx, so I guess I'm headed in the right direction, but very sloooooooooow.

My neurological symptoms are slow to leave as well. The tremor that I have, interestingly enough, seemed to diminish slightly after a the first few weeks of Doxy, but has plateaued over the last month or so and hasn't improved much. I'm assuming this will require patience over the long haul.

I am starting Flagyl next week and am a bit worroed because my LLMD mentioned the neuropathy can be permanent. I was told, if I feel anything weird that could be this, to stop and call the office. I just hope it helps, the pain has been tough.

i was given a 7 day course of flagyl for a vaginal infection. After 4 days i felt like i was dying. Couldn't take the last two doses.
I'm off it now but still have the same dizziness and skin "pain" I did when i was on it. Also, my stomach hasn't rebounded. Its been a week since i've been off it. back on adoxy now.
i don't know if the effects will be permament, but they are taking a while to go away

I've heard to start with very small doses and work up gradually to tolerance. Some can start out well from the first. Make sure it's brand name Flagyl, took not generic. CherylSue
