Anyone have problems with facial flushing?

When my illness first started, I had terrible bouts of constant facial flushing for weeks, months. Then it faded after about a year. Now it seems like its coming back strong again.

My Qs:
1. Is it all lyme related?
2. Could it be thyroid, diabetes, or something like that? (Ive been tested multiple times..always negative.)
3. Is it possible Ive developed food allergies since lyme started that I never had before?
4. Any solutions on what I can do? So far all I do is use cold compresses and suck on ice chips.
5. Is it possible Im getting better and the oldest symptoms I have left, which were the first ones when it started (flushing, headaches, nausea, anxiety), are going to be the last to go away for good?

Thanks!

That is one of my HUGE symptoms too. Although it comes from the burning sensation. I was also negative for diabetes and thyroid.

I'm hypothyroid and have never had issues with facial flushing.

Are you pounding large amounts of niacin at all?

I get it every evening and it lasts several hours. It covers my face and neck and is very red, hot, and feels like I'm burning.

It is worse if I am stressed or get excited about anything.

Take this with a grain of salt..In my case, there was one and only one culprit....Babesia.

Especially if your symptoms come at a certain part of the day, regardless of whether or not physical exertion is playing a part.

I could count on the daily flushing, usually between 3-6 PM, like clockwork...... Joe

I havent been pounding the niacin, although I do take a Bcomplex each day, and eat a banana each day as well. I was wondering about a nicain reaction because it seems everything has niacin or niacinamide added into the foods. I know that taking a shower will make it worse as well, as does stress/anxiety. The only other thing I can think of is that perhaps my cns has learned or is reacting to the lyme/encephalitis this way, and now its an autonomic reaction now. Its definetely not something I can control, and I never had any blushing/flushing prior to the illness.

I was tested for coinfections through Igenex, but they were all negative.

I get flushing!

I often have sensations of burning on my face, too.

If I am holding a conversation, this somehow triggered more flushing in me.

Sometimes I need to end phone calls/meetings because my face gets too hot and flushed from talking.

Weird, eh?

It can (and does) happen on its own, talking is the only thing with which I can correlate it at all.

I also have facial flushing. It was worse inthe beginning but still ahve it and sometimes i get the warm feeling w/ it too.

May want to look into Lupus or maybe some type of carcinoma. Both of these cause facial flushing.

I have beeen tested for boith these things and they came back negative.

Most likeley TBD is the cause.

I always wondered about your theory about old symptoms showing up at the end of an illness. My naturopath once said that to me. Heard other speak of it al well.

Me too, me too! My face often feels hot--but without redness--, as though I had a sunburn, and my left cheek feels a bit numb, like I just went to the dentist and it's still half frozen.

The heat sensation gets worse when I'm on the phone and the conversation is a bit emotional (either positive or negative). Stress definitely makes my face "burn" more.

My toes and the palms of my hands also burn on a regular basis, especially late in the evening.

It would be nice to know what causes this: borrelia? babs? bart?

Hey guys, I don't know, but facial flushing for me is a symptom of babesia, many here with babesaia had got this symptom.

Specially when the flush comes in a certain time of the the day. Mine was followed by fatigue, I guess this is when the critters reproduce or so (similar to malaria bouts of fever, I suppose, but not so dramatic).

Not only the face gets red, but the whole body gets warmer.

For me, it happened ONLY with babesia and it was a sort of babesia flare, to my understanding.
