I'm reading a lyme book and it gives symptoms of bartonella, many of which I have. I know that lyme and bartonella symptoms can be very similar.

My symptoms are fatigue, headaches, dry and red eyes, ringing in one ear most notably, swollen glands in the neck, anxiety, agitation, disorientation, trouble sleeping, etc. What I do not have is sweats or fever. Is it unlikely that I have bartonella because I don't have sweats or fever?

Thanks from Sheryl

Sheryl,

I do not have sweats or fever and have a mild IgG titer to bartonella. Unsure if it is a cross reaction with Fry's mystery bug or true bart, since I tested negative at Igenex.

I sweat very little, have no fever, get little red bumps and that come and go on my back and upper torso, myoclonus seizures, and ear problems with imbalance.

Have you been tested? I think Clongen labs has some good tests? Hiker53

Your bart symptoms sound almost exactly like mine. I had a LOT of horrible anxiety/ADD type psych stuff, red and dry eyes, agitation, insomnia, etc. It has improved 99% with extensive bart treatment....9 months of Rifampin combo plus 4 months Levaquin combo.

I tested positive for Bartonella and never had sweats or fever.

I have many of the symptoms that you did list though.

I don't think you have to have every single symptom.

Get to an LLMD and see what they think.

Since my hot water bottle broke and I can't put it on my head and eyes to reduce swelling, I'm noticing that there is noticable swelling on the sides of my head near the eyes and around the eye sockets, especially on the right side. Does anyone know if this is typical of bartonella? I thought bartonella was maybe not unilateral.

Thanks for the replies.

Sheryl
