I saw my eye doctor on Friday and he thought I had some odd nuero things going on. He started asking me questions and I'm not sure he believes in Chronic Lyme Disease, but he does know that I have it.
He's asked me to do an MRI (which I did) as well as do some blood work for Whipple's disease. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I read through the symptoms on wikipedia and it matches a lot of my symptoms, but I think that my symptoms are mainly due to babesia and lyme.
Any thought would be great or information I could share with this doctor.
Thank you, Lindsay

...Interesting how the lyme and cos/whipple symptoms overlap isn't it??
And the treatment is the same...long term abx...

A lot of doctors think of Whipples Disease long before Lyme, and other Lyme Disease patients have gotten the same testing only to see it come back negative in their specific cases.
The interesting thing is, in each case the doctor always came back with the blood work saying "Wow, I swore it was Whipples."
In other words, it can't be Lyme. You get the point.

A couple years ago when I had just been tested for Lyme I was chit chatting with someone in Starbucks. He ended up being an infectious disease doctor. I didn't know about ID docs denying Lyme at the time and mentioned being tested. He said to look into Whipple's Disease.
Funny these docs are willing to believe we have a long term infection, but it can't be Lyme.

Interesting. I will press on with lyme. I already have an LLMD. I have been in treatment for 3.5 years and I have been like a ping pong ball-healthy then not healthy-now after 3.5 years of abx and IV Rocephin for 15 months I am back to square one.
I have hives, chronic muscle spasms, severe fatigue, trouble with sleep, nubness tingling, tons of brain fog etc. My LLMd thinks there might be something else going on, so I saw this neuro eye doctor.
He is intrigued by my case. He's not saying I don't have lyme-he's just trying to see if there is some thing in addition.
I will keep you posted. I am trying to get a SPECT but it seems impossible to get approved.
I started Mepron and Ketek on Sunday and I am hardly herxing. Yet a week ago I was on amoxy (from dentist) just for 5 days and I was barely functional.
I am so confused!

Whipple's Disease -- a rare condition that prevents the intestine from properly absorbing nutrients, caused by infection from bacteria called Tropheryma whippelii. The disorder mainly affects middle-aged white men. Whipple's disease is extremely rare.
There is a saying in healthcare, that when you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras. In other words, think Lyme before you think of Whipple's disease.
