I've been sick for a short enough time that I can still remember what it felt like. My thoughts just flowed about 200% more smoothly than they do now, and there was no scrambling for words during conversation or forgetting what I was thinking five minutes ago. It was freakin' awesome.

Colorgreen, Oh yes I remember being in your place for years.
One day I felt better, but those would be short lived.

It seems to come on very slowly when you start to see improvement. But even today after 10 yrs of treatment, if I do too much and try to do life, I can get slapped down real quick.

I still go through a herx once a month, react to weather fronts, and sometimes the week leading to and during the full moon are not good.

But compared to where I was and where you sound like you are today....believe me seeeing improvement is an awesome feeling.

I had to learn something called...PATIENCE. That was truly a new experience.

Green,

I don't know what normal is either. I am 36 and have had Lyme since I was little. When I was told that I might be able to get 85% better, I told my husband, IF I can get 85% better, I COULD WALK ON THE MOON!!!

I have had one good day since treatment started in November. I remember it well. It was January 15th. That good day for me was being able to clean my house, and I had the radio on and I was dancing around the house in between chores and rooms!! I called everyone and told them I FELT GREAT!!

I felt so good, that I felt like it had to last. But, it didn't. Friday brought back all of the fatigue and depression that looms over me every other day.

But, Jan. 15th was so sweet that I am going to keep going!! [Smile]

Normal feels like????? Normal is just feeling like you fit in with the rest of the world. Right now I feel like I am on the outside looking in.

Don't know if you can ever return to normal after going through such a life changing experience.

Hopefully when I return to "normal", it will be a whole new kind of normal that is better than anything I have ever seen. That is my expectation!

The moments of clarity are like a cool drink of water or a fresh breeze. You realize how wonderful you feel in the moment, but clouds always roll back in.

I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse. I know that sounds awful, but I feel like I'm being toyed with sometimes...

I guess that's the carrot, ey?

I have had some very interesting break-throughs. I don't think it's normal, though.

I took up juggling as an exercise form to keep the depression away. Moving my body is the only thing I can do for that... It's not as great as the treadmill in terms of cardio, but I don't think I have the stamina for treadmilling anymore.

I supplemented the juggling with a rolla-bolla balance trainer. It's a flat board that rolls back and forth over a cylinder. It kicks my *** and I fall over in somekind of blissful agony after only about 90 seconds. My kneees will kill for a while afterwards. But, overall it's worth the pain.

So, the breakthrough is that I have suddenly become more ambidextrous. I caught myself welding left handed. I thought maybe I was a little rusty since it had been a while, but then I realized I was doing just fine as a lefty!!
WTF??

I'm a lifelong skateboarder and took up surfing about 10 years ago. I am goofy foot, which means I ride with my right foot forward. I have not been in the water for over a year due to wave rage on my part, but I do zoom around my house on my skateboard when the mood strikes. It's really fun stuff for me.

But.... All of a sudden I can step up with my left foot, pivot and be riding with the left foot forward, with surprising ease.

It's really cool, but it's kinda weird, too in a way.

I can't read a tape measure, but I can weld left handed!

I feel like one of those people whose brain hemispheres take over for one another due to injury.

Anybody with crazy changes like this??
