does anyone recall which post had that mathematic example of lyme growing over time. It demonstrated for example how many germs if they grew etc. THus how many years to resolve.
My insurance asked me for info and research and IV studies (very little IV studies)as I could possible win my appeal.
The calculation for me is like a horrible math word problem.
Thank you again.

Sounds crazy to me that an insurance company is asking you to do technical research on the life cycle of a bacteria.
Just give them every expert reference you can find:

it sounds like they are just blowing you off honestly. I mean if they'd accept non-IDSA research, we wouldn't be in this predicament. Think about it. THey're probably laughing making you go in cicles. Sad.

Thank you for responding. I don't know what to say about insurance. They had my appeal and could of denied again but did not. The nurse rep. called and asked me to withdrawal it and submit other articles and resubmit it. I sent Ct blumenthal, Idsa..some others the first time.

This calculation is in Tom Grier's article titled the Complexities of Lyme Disease.
You can find it on canlyme.com
Here are the relative passages:
"Since most antibiotics can only kill bacteria when they are dividing, a slow doubling time means less lethal exposure to antibiotics.
Most bacteria are killed in 10-14 days of antibiotic.
To get the same amount of lethal exposure during new cell wall formation of a Lyme spirochete, the antibiotic would have to be present 24 hours a day for 1 year and six months!
Note: Antibiotics kill bacteria by binding to the bacteria's ribosomes, and interrupting the formation of cell wall proteins."
