Hi-
I used to be on here alot but all has been well for so long... I even got my last 2 symptoms - yeast and thyroid handled. Been on Weight Watchers and lost the last 10 of 30 I gained from Lyme. YAY!
BUT - about 2 weeks ago before I went to bed I noticed a round red circular rash the size of a silver dollar on my outer thigh.
When I pressed it - you could see white where my finger was - much like a sunburn. It was gone the next morning but I have had health issues ever since...like some of my old Lyme symptoms.
Heart palps, weird chest pains, neck pain and stiffness. And also a distinct intolerance of alcohol.
Please say it ain't so...it is too cold here to get bit now.
Any similar experiences or advice? Thanks!

Hi jsnyde,

I'm sorry to hear you're possibly back in the Lyme and/or coinfection saddle. You don't have to be reinfected to have a relapse of Lyme. There is no cure for Lyme, only remission.

But on the bright side, it seems that for those that do find remission once, going into remission again gets easier each time, and the remission seems to last longer each time.

You need to get to a LLMD and be evaluated again, and also look into coinfections. Were you evaluated for both Lyme and any coinfections the first go-round? Coinfections can cause relapses and complications as well.

You probably already know this, having been around much longer than I have, and already having fought this into remission once before.

I have read many many people here and elsewhere that managed to go into remission for years and then relapsed, either from out of the blue or after a trauma or stressor. I wonder if it's not the Lyme (and possibly other coinfections) gathering in numbers large enough to cause symptoms again?

Also, I wanted to say I have a rash just like you mentioned, one on each thigh, smaller than yours but sounds very much the same. No bumps or anything, just a flat round red spot that dissipates when pressed then comes back. I am very curious to know what it is, and see if it is similar to mine.

Good luck! I'm sure you can beat this back into submission soon - you did it successfully once before.

P.S. I should say it's still possible it isn't Lyme or coinfections, but it makes sense to get it ruled in or out by a Lyme specialist for sure, since Lyme can't be cured, and you have prior history etc.

Nenet-
I seem to remember having a rash like this before during the height of my Lyme problems. I really have to wonder if the low calorie count on Weight Watchers didn't lower my defenses. They go by points but someone told me how many calories each point represents and I figured my daily allowance to be 800 calories. I'm small but boy that's not much!

My Lyme doc told me if I ever get under any major stress Lyme could rear its ugly head again.(I was not ever diagnosed with co's - in fact my LLMD pretty much ruled them out.) My rash looks much like a bullseye without the bite in the middle which makes sense since I haven't been bit lately.
Ugh I have horrible insurance - I hate to go back to this whole circus - it sucks so bad. I really rue the day I ever heard of Lyme!
Thanks for your input, though!
Julie

Sounds like it's back. Stay on a low carb diet so yeast doesn't make a comeback as well.

How long were you treated the first time??

Many people have co's but don't know it. Please ask your dr to give you a trial run of meds for babs and see what happens. Not treating co's makes it VERY likely for the Lyme to keep coming back.
