yes, i am shouting, and all you migraineurs can totally understand why.

Most insurance companies still have quantity limits of nine, my pharmacist tells me.

That is good news!

I take Relpax and I'm limited by my insurance company to 12/month.

I had a prescription for Relpax. It used to knock me out & I still had a headache when I woke up... It was expensive, too. It's probably similar to Imitrex.

I decided to try Excedrin for migraines. It actually worked better than the Relpax! I was surprised.

Some of you may want to check it out... BTW - I don't get any commission from Excedrin for this.

sparkle7,

We are opposites. Relpax works really well for me, but Excedrin does nothing for me. The cause/type of headache makes a big difference in the treatment.

Hi There:

If any of you are buying Imitrex and having to pay for it like I am, if you'll send me a PM I'll be happy to share with you a way that I buy it dirt cheap and, yes, it is the real thing. I've been getting it this way for 2 years and I'm talking very inexpensive.

Best,
Dave

Hi Cotton,
Imitrex is the only migraine medication that works for me. I was very excited about the release of the generic. I tried it but it did nothing for me. Very strange.

Have you tried it yet? Would love to get feedback from others on this.

Lymeherx,
I found a site that might help. It does require a prescription so check with your doc to make sure there are no contraindications.

imagine, that sucks that the generic didn't work for you -- so you were stuck with a migraine and no treatment...i feel for you.

i haven't tried it yet. I'm like you, only Imitrex works, relpax and other brands arent effective for me- keeping my fingers crossed that the generic will work.

lymeherx --sumatriptan is for an acute attack only. if it works for you, it is a lifesaver. however, don't believe those claims that you won't get drowsy -- for some people it is quite sedating.

All of the triptans work the same for me: either they work great or they dont't work at all, depending on the particular migraine.

I've always taken Zomig because that's been the cheapest of the (until now, I guess) brand name triptans, so that's what my insurance (Medicare, formerly Medicaid) covers.

If there's a generic, my insurance co., will no doubt switch me to that. I hope it works the same. I once figured it out: they pay for 6 pills every 15 days, and it works out to be about $18/pill.

Used to be a much bigger problem before I had prescription coverage and had migraines every day....

This is good news!

cotton thanks alot. Even Lyrica makes me increadiblly drowsy and emotionally flatlined. I only use it when I am in a hypomania and cant get to sleep at all.

It does help me sleep deeply but it doesnt alow me to feel emotions deeply, good or bad. Thats not a good thing. I want to be happy above everything else.
