I've had problems with my sinuses for about 10 years. I used to get recurring 'sinus infections' that were treated with abx and would temporarily get better. Haven't had one in a while, but I have constant congestion and a feeling of pressure.

My LLMD says my nose looks red and irritated inside and that this could be related to acid reflux. I don't have any symptoms of acid reflux, as far as I can tell.

He also said he hears something in my bronchials (and I have a chronic dry cough)and it could be related to acid reflux as well.

I don't understand why he's sticking to that one reason when I don't have heartburn, burping or any of the other symptoms I've read about.

Has anyone else experienced this, or do you have any other ideas of what could cause either problem?

Yes, acid reflux can cause a dry cough - that's one of the many documented symptoms when you read up on it on any of the medical websites. I have a dry cough, too, and don't really know if it's reflux or Babesia, but taking reflux medication now and then does actually quiet my cough for awhile.

Years ago, a holistic MD showed me a medical journal article that reflux had been discovered to be a cause of asthma. I've read that other places, too. So maybe your doctor is going on that kind of information, that reflux is known to cause various respiratory types of issues.

Remember that sinus infections can be caused by fungus, too - not always bacterial.

A couple of years ago I had a sore throat that would not go away. I went to an ENT and I found out that I had reflux. It was silent reflux not GERD since I had no symptoms. It is called LPR. I took Nexium for 6 weeks and symptoms went away. Good luck!

Anybody have constant slight drainage in back of throat with strange smells in nose from it? No stuffiness of difficulty breathing. This affects my voice and my PCP says all this could be from acid reflux.

I suggested post nasal drip to him, but I've had it for years.

Maybe if I try an acid reflux medicine and it goes away it will prove him right.

I have no sore throat or cough.

Yes, I had that as well. Constant post nasal drip (which led to my sore throat) but no strange smell. When that acid is washing up all the way to your sinuses your throat tries to protect itself by producing more mucus.
