Ugh. I've been doing incredibly well lately, and have hit a tough spot suddenly.
Any thoughts as to the cause would be appreciated.
Have been only treating a recurring problem with C. Diff - am currently on 500 mg vancomycin 3 times daily. (Editing to add that I am NOT on 500 mg 3 x daily - that was a mistake, my dose is 250 mg 3 x daily)
Re-started that yesterday after taking a week off. Will be doing a long-term protocol now.
No other Lyme/TBD treatment since Feb! This is huge for me!
Also treating Addison's and Hashimoto's Diseases (both caused by Lyme, per LLMD).
Have been at about 90% till yesterday -
- sudden swelling of lymph node under right ear, very painful
- chest pain
and this morning -
- awoke with the numb and tinglies in hands and feet
- intense fatigue/exhaustion all day - have needed multiple naps
- chest pain comes and goes
- low grade fever
- cognitively - I'm a mess
LLMD has been suspicious that we have not treated babs sufficiently (again) but I was doing so well that I begged for a break.
Since my last round of babs meds (in Nov - Jan) resulted in pancreatitis, I am afraid to resume babs treatment.
Now I'm wondering if this is babs rearing its ugly head again, or something else.
Lymph node swelling is not one of my usual babs symptoms though.
Any thoughts? Does it sound like babs? Bart again?

Have you been treated for parasites/worms. They play a MAJOR role in lyme disease.

I have no definitive answers for you, but I sympathize with you entirely.
I have had a tough relapse that is so undeniably Babs-oriented that it's as if Babs is blaring its' horns over Borrelia to be noticed. Lots of costochondritis, chest pain and shortness of breath along with cognitve confusion.
It's as if when we lower our germ load in various areas, the co's rear their ugly heads for attention.
Isn't C-Diff accompanied with alot of gastro stuff? (You didn't list that in your current relapse.)
Best to you,

Thanks wiser. Your mental image of babs blaring its' horns over Borrelia to be noticed made me smile!
That *is* what it feels like.
Oops - the gastro stuff - wow, it's apparently become so much a part of life that I forget to mention it.
Yes, I have gastro stuff.
Primarily abdominal pain this time around, but the other, usual gastro stuff, too.
C. Diff has been more painful than pancreatitis, by far.
Gael - I've checked out the lymephotos and salt/c sites many times, and actually have a humaworm afficionado in the house.

C diff is very contagious and you might be re-infecting yourself!
You need a dedicated bathroom and it needs to be cleaned after use with a clorax solution.
Vancomycin is a very very powerful abx. and the one that thru my dad into toxic hepatitis, I believe.
The gastroenterologist in my first link said this (if you print out the link):
"What do you do as far as probiotics? You hear a lot of noise about this. There is very good evidence, at least suggested, that we can prevent or diminish C difficile with probiotics.
The one probiotic that really has been studied is very similar to brewer's yeast; it's
Saccharomyces boulardii.[1]
It's not something that you necessarily go out and get at your local pharmacy. Lactobacillus also has been used.

Thanks, Marnie. You always have excellent info.
I did post the wrong dosage - I'm taking 250 mg 3 x daily. Not 500. That's a big mistake, glad you caught it.
I'm sorry to hear about your father. That is very concerning. Was he taking oral vancomycin or IV?
Off to read your links.
Thanks again.

Added additional links...boy, if we can fight this using a probiotic instead of an antibiotic...how great is that?!
Good luck. God Bless!

Possibly co infections? I too had Cdiff last fall and Flagyl wasn't an option. Did Vancomycin and it seemed to clear up. I did here it is contagious.
My 12 year old has terrible stomach problems and is being tested for C-diff.

Thanks, Feelfit!
I am at least grateful that it's not the Mepron Blues - at the moment at least.
Hoping that you're feeling better, too!
