Hi, I keep getting conflicting information. So far I trust the folks here and their advice more than anything. You all have been so good to me! [group hug]

I wonder if those assessments of various antibiotics on the ADLF site shun costly ones for cheaper ones.

They shun the very one my Lyme doctor put me onto and they question the safety of long term antibiotics, in favor of the notion that Lyme can always be cured in 4 weeks.

I would greatly appreciate any insights as to the motivations of ADLF and if I'm misunderstanding anything.

I forgot to mention openly that my abject terror of getting ill from the two recent tick bites stems from the fact that I've been sruggling/disabled for years with "not quite sure what".

I've been officially disabled since 2006 with muscle weakness, fatigue, headaches, and recently a "slow spot" in my throat that will cause food or pills to get stuck on the way down.

Oh, and forgetfulness, so there are probably a few symptoms I'm forgetting. [confused]

Wanna see the disgusting thing embedded in my leg? I posted it on the web at www.tickedoffliterally.blogspot.com

Thank you SO much. LL

Hi LymeLearned,

I'd suggest taking a look at Keebler's

informational post (2nd one) on this thread.

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/82182?

Since reading is often difficult for those

with cognition impairment, you may want to watch

the 1/2 hr segment that aired on a local Boston

TV program, Chronicle (link to it provided in

above thread). It explains the controversy

pretty well and is worth the watch.

Further, you may want to read Pam Weintraub's

book "Cure Unknown" and get to a local viewing

or obtain a copy of the documentary "Under Our

Skin" click here to watch Trailer

Edit, Note: some say the Bayl-Dole Act (1980) helped set the stage for this controversy.

Sadly, the inclination of some human beings toward Greed needs to be curbed regulatorily.

The advisors for the ADLF site are the same doctors that were bribed by insurance companies to write the IDSA guidelines. So everything they say on that site is designed to confuse the public and increase profits for themselves (through bribery and payoffs) and for the insurance companies. They have no science to back up anything they claim.

Lymelearned,

I agree with pryorka and would beg you to ask the question: Where is their science?????

If you ask this, then I believe you will have your answer.

Good luck!!! =)

What is ADLF? I am not familiar with those initials. Do you mean ALDF - the American Lyme Disease Foundation ( www.aldf.com )?

If that is so, they go by the IDSA and are basically a puppet for IDSA ID doctors, ignoring ILADS research.

Thanks to 22dreams for finding this, here's a link where I've posted explanation for the political atmosphere:

For excellent research articles and a voice of advocacy for people who have lyme or other tick-borne disease. Remember "A" for Association, the top grade in the class. This is the group that really has their eyes open, the LDA:

THANK you!!! I had GRAVE misgivings about their advice, but I just needed to have my suspicions confirmed.

I DON'T like how similar their acronym sounds to the other, more truthful sites.

Oh, did I mention that OSHA admits in their warnings that Lyme..."chronic conditions may ensue, including varying degrees of permanent damage to the joints or the nervous system."

Too bad they then refer to the CDC guidelines afterward. Here's another major inconsistency in the acknowledgment of Chronic Lyme.

LymeLearned,

Thanks for the OSHA info. Unfortunately, that long link just stretched off screen with the width.

Would you please copy and past that to TINY URL and replace with a short link to bring the thread back to a readable width for all computers? Many here use small screens and the longer URLs make it hard to maneuver.

Thanks.

Just copy and paste a long link and they will give you a TINY link

Um...I'm more than willing, but not sure how.

I'll give it a whirl.

Better, smaller link. I just monkeyed around with it and got this. Thanks [Smile]

Thanks, LymeLearned. Now, would you please delete the long link and the thread will go back to normal width. You can click on the edit icon just right of center over the post (little paper and pencil) and just delete - or paste over - the long link.

thanks.
