I will be starting the A.I. protocol shortly and in the long posts, I see that sauerkraut is recommended as a way to assist liver cleanse. Unfortunately, I can't afford to be farting all day long here at work and that's exactly what happens when I eat the stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love sauerkraut, it just doesn't love me.
If you have specific foods, NOT SUPPLEMENTS that assist with liver issues, please let me know.

What is an "A.I. protocol" ?
BTW, Fennel seed will help prevent gas. So will "BEANO" before a meal. sauerkraut is absolutely excellent for so many reasons. With "BEANO" this just might work for you.

Thanks Keebler & feelfit. The radishes and olive oil are good for me and I use them often. I love beets too, although I think it's the wrong time of year for beets down here (104 degrees yesterday and today!) You can forget BEANO or any of the other anti-gas meds, they don't do a thing for me.

Ping, I read somewhere that lemon juice in warm or hot water is good for the liver. I put lemon juice and stevia in hot water. I call it my hot lemonaide. I really look forward to it in the morning. It is a bit of a balancing act to get it so that you don't have too much lemon or too little sweetner(stevia).
In a book by nutritionist, Ann Louise Gettleman(may or may not be spelled right), I read that drinking 100% cranberry juice in water throughout the day helps. She means the real stuff that has not been loaded with sugar or high fructose corn syrup. I believe that she suggests like 2 oz in a 12oz glass of pure water. I add stevia(agave might do).
As far as sauerkraut, I lacto-ferment my own and it does not cause gas. The recipe for how to do that is in a book called Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon.You might be able to google lacto fermented saurkraut and find the recipe. I think it is MUCH better than regular old sauerkraut and it is full of healthy bacteria for your gut.

Also to consider: Digestive enzymes? Fennel Seed?

While not specifically for the liver, Goji berries are a an excellent food source for every cell of the body - just a couple small handfuls a day will do. I suggest the berries, not the juice.
The whole foods are better for us and by everyone wanting to gulp the juice, that will leave no berries for the wonderful people who grow these. We need to be sure there are enough to go around.

Don't forget that the herb milk thistle is supposed to be excellent for the liver. It's nice that it is very inexpensive compared to many other supplements.

Yes, PB4 is right.
You had said you wanted only food suggestions. However, taking a milk thistle supplement regularly each day, provides a therapeutic level of support and protection that you can't necessarily get from normal servings of even good foods.

All the cruciferous vegetables are excellent for the liver. Cabbage being the first, broccoli the second and cauliflower last. Those 3 are at the top of the list as far as helping to aide the liver in detoxification.
