I woke up this morning w/ a itchy throat and I'm assuming it's yeast. I haven't been on anything except a week of nystatin.
My anxiety is high and I'm also thinking allergic reaction. BUT I've been on my Augmentin for about two months this year and 5 mos last year and have had no problem.
I'm paranoid of an allergic reaction. Nice anxiety sx with this disease huh?
So am I correct to assume yeast and not the other?
Thank you C

If it is yeast you should probably be able to see it. Might need to shine a flash light and look in a mirror to see it.
When I had yeast on the back of my throat I could not see it in a mirror until I used the light to help me.

I have read from some reputable sources that say the "spit test" is not accurate. Apparently anyone who does the test will get similar results, yeast or no.
If you are concerned about this, I would get to a doctor and get a throat culture pronto. You might also be coming down with a different kind of throat infection. Your GP or PCP or whoever can take a look and help you determine if you are having problems. Better safe than sorry.
You can also call your pharmacist and ask them. They are really helpful with these issues.
You can also take some color-free benedryl and see if that helps, in the meantime.

Thanks for the replies. I took the Augmentin and nothing happened. The Dr ordered some Diflucan and hopefully it clears me up.
Gemofnj, I've done the spit test and according to the test I have yeast.
Radfaraf, My tongue is very pale, but I don't see any patches w/ the light
Nenet, I thought the test was fairly reliable. I'm curious to see how I do after the Diflucan.
