I am allergic to pineapples. Every once in 2yrs Ill eat a sliver in a fruit salad someone has made.
The only thing that happens is that it affects my throat. However whenever I took enzymes with bromelain my stomach would be a mess.
Probably allergy related.

Pineapple is a common food allergy, so my guess is that it's an allergy.
I used to get stinging on my tongue when I'd eat raw pineapple, but it has been better lately.

Question...is the pineapple fresh or canned? If it is canned, there are no enzymes, heating above 117 degrees kills them.
If fresh, is it completely ripe? Bottom usually gets a little moldy looking, peel is soft, very sweet smelling.
If it is not completely ripe, this can happen. I read about someone whose throat swelled so much she had to take Benedryl, found out the pineapple wasn't all the way ripe.
Pineapple is toxic if not properly ripened.
If it was canned, then I would say it's probably an allergy.

It was fresh, pre-cut ripe pineapple pieces, so it could definitely be the enzymes.
I've had funny reactions to cooked pineapple before, though, so it's probably an allergy.

I'm the exact same way - probably an allergy. The weird thing is that now I just have to look at a particular food to know whether I'll react to it or not. Weird.
