Is there such a thing? I need help. I don't know what to do. Sorry I haven't been here for a while. You all have always been here when I needed help and I really do appreciate it.

This is about my husband. I just brought him home yesterday from the psychiatric unit. I'm so tired I hope this can make some sense. I have lyme also and my brain isn't working very good right now.

Anyway, he hasn't been on any lyme treatment for a few years. He just gave up. He could still work and function so thought he'd be OK but of course, I tried to tell him. He has been sick with sinus infections all winter and he was put on biaxin.

He went into a mania phase last week. He's never done this before but he has had problems with depression, etc, for a long time. He was in the ER 4 times last weekend and all they did was dope him up with ativan. He was so anxious he couldn't be still. Monday we took him to a different ER and they admitted him.

Come to find out it was the biaxin that caused it. So yesterday he seemed fine and I brought him home. He gets home and the same thing starts again. So I find out they had put him on doxy for the sinus infection.

I called his dr and he said that the abx probably did it again. He was much better this morning after not having anymore abx. I'm wondering how he can be treated for the lyme if the abx do him like this. He's willing to go back to see the LLMD to start treatment again.

I'm just wondering if he needs to see a LL psychiatrist first (if there is such a thing).
Any ideas?

Any help would be appreciated.
