Does babesia attack the brain, too? I know we've discussed air hunger, sweating, etc.

My initial illness began with prolonged 103 fevers, drenching sweats, chills, flulike malaise, and fried brains. I never did get the headaches, though.

I have been treating Lyme for 18 months, but I haven't treated babesia fully yet. Currently, I am on cefuroxime (generic Ceftin) and throwing in 1 malarone to start.

I'm wondering if Babesia is preventing me from achieving remission. Perhaps, Lyme is less of an issue than the babesia.

My LLMD doesn't think I have Babesia because I don't get the heacaches.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for your input.

When my babs symptoms are bad I am very nervous, paranoid, and general anxiety is bad. I almost get a ocd behavior as well.

I do get headaches with babs, but everybody is do different I would not disregard it. Sometimes once you treat the symptoms start to come out.

If you have a reaction to the malarone than you know you have babesia.

Yes, my neuro symptoms got much better after taking mepron. I had been treating lyme for 2 years with much success, but the remaining neuro symptoms only started to resolve with babesia treatment, mepron and zith.

I found mepron and zith stronger than malarone, but many folks get better with malarone too. My understanding is that lots of folks have found that treating babesia finally made them go into remission, after treating lyme with partial results.

My headaches only started once I started the zith -- I did not have headaches regularly before starting babesia treatment. Took about 2 months for them to go away completely. Best wishes to you.

I am fatigued to the point of barely being able to lift my limbs without Mepron and Zithromax. I also experience very bad disequilibrium, shakiness, and fever.

Thanks for your replies. I'm trying to up the malarone from 1 to 2 pills a day.

Went to the zoo yesterday with family. I'm relapsing today with fatigue, malaise, and burning skin.

You may need up to 4 Malarone per day to make a difference. 2 is enough for some, but some people need higher doses than that, in my personal opinion.

But don't go up to 4 if 2 is doing something, obviously.

I'm still relapsing/herxing. I'm so tired of this. I haven't felt well in years. It's like having a permanent flu. Malaise, fatigue.....

Hopefully, this gets better soon.

I didn't think I had headaches of concern till I treated babesia- and then noticed that now I REALLY don't get random headaches. I'd always assumed they were related to coffee drinking, not enough sleep, too much sleep- but it turns out I just had little minor ones, often, that must have been a symptom I discounted.

I must have totally jinxed myself, because I just got a pounding headache for the first time in ages, right after making this post. I also just started a new med (not for babesia)
