I had really high levels pre-treatment. I found that my water was very high in iron, so stopped drinking it and cooking with it. My Dr. had me start taking a chelation agent for it.
Also, when I was treated, I had blood drawn weekly for a couple of years. This also reduces levels.
That said...my levels have been normal for the past couple of years. I still eat a low to no iron diet.
I am not lyme free. Never tested for co-infections.
Hope this helps. Not sure if it was the treatment for lyme that brought it down (it was really, really elevated) or the change in environmental factors.

I've been wondering if it could be something from environment, although I drink only distilled water. But, I do bathe in our well water thru our shower.
Just don't know if it's didease related or not....nor does my LLMD.
Surprised you could do blood draws every week. I was told I could only have it done once every 8 weeks.

I had the blood draws by the llmd due to the meds I was on. I had to have them as per the llmd.
Some people with hemochromatosis (sp?) get blood draws therapeutically to lower the iron levels.
The iron in my water was really high (well water) so that was a major help for me. I was drinking tons of it, cooking with it and like you said, showering in it.
I will try to find the supplement that my Dr. had me take. It was a powder that dissolved in your mouth. I stopped taking it, although I should be on a maintenance dose.
