I gave my son 1 dose of Nystatin on Sat. On Sun, he had a full back itchy rash that lasted for 20-30 min and then completely dissappeared.

On Mon he woke up with "mosquito bites" on both legs below the knees about 10-12 of them. Later on in the day he said he kept getting shocks thru his body.

I then gave him a dose of Beadryl thinking they might be hives.

Next day he got two small welts on the back of his neck that lasted 15-20 min. The one left a small mark.

The "mosquito bites" are still visible on his legs today. Thats after a week and two doses of Benadryl.

During this time his attitude was thru the roof bad like bart rage.

I've looked thru photos on here and can't find what I need.

Has anyone had a die off reaction that came to the skin as mosquito bites.

thank you
C

c3mom, I don't have any experience with that type of herx - but am sure that others do.

I hope someone has more answers for you about herxing and rashes.

I did want to say that my son often gets hives, and they do look a bit like mosquito bites.

Is your son still taking the Nystatin? Is there anything else new in his regimen or diet?

You may want to call his doc and run this past him, since hives could be a sign of an allergic reaction.

c3mom,

I don't know if this is the same thing as you're describing, but my husband gets round, raised, skin-color to reddish eruptions, 1/4 to 1/2 inch in diameter, that spontaneously come up--you can almost watch them growing. They itch or sting. Sometimes there may be some blood blisters nearby.

We have attributed them to bart, but I have begun to wonder if they are die-off. He got one last night (he has not been detoxing as faithfully as usual). We immediately slathered bentonite clay paste on it, and it was gone in the morning.

Do you notice any difference when your son is detoxing?

We had tried nystatin once before and he got a small 2" rash (not hive) looking thing and we stopped. I reintroduced the nyastatin and gave him only one dose and that is what happened.

I can't believe he would be allergis to Nystain, but anything is possible.

He has bart. He is a little rage machine right now. We ,of course, take it all in stride. I feel for those who have older children who deal with the rage.

Viva, how many does your husban get at one time and are they lacalized or are they all over the body?

I don't have him detox- maybe I should.
Thanks
C

C3,

The bumps my husband tends to get are fairly localized, I believe no more than several at a time.

I don't have experience with younger people who have Lyme, but I do know that detoxing has been very important for my husband. Perhaps it's something to ask his LLMD about?

Best,
Viva

I can not take Nystatin. I don't get a rash. About 30 minutes after taking it, I feel flush and get very nauseated. It goes away after 30 minutes or so. I took Nystatin two times and had the same reaction.

I don't normally react to meds. I can take any other med.

Thanks Cactus for asking, he is doing fine. After everything cleared away, I hesitantly started up his Biaxin. I was praying that wasn't it and after 5 days doesn't appear to be.

Peggy thats interesting you can't take it either. I wondered if my son was allergi to the dye.

I am slowly introducing foods that contain yellow dye thinking there might be a connection.

Glad to hear he's okay - thanks for the update!

Hoping that all goes as smoothly as possible now...
