So I have been on Doxy since August 3, first at 100mg 2 times day and then to 200mg 2 times a day. I switched to Doryx, which is the non-generic brand of Doxy, because it seemed easier on the stomach and my doc said that it was more potent if taken with food.

When I first took the Doxy, I felt terrible. Muscle aches, chills, burning feeling in shoulders.

When it was up to 200mg two times a day, I felt better with minor aches, but still had the burning feeling in between my shoulders.

Now today I do not feel well at all. I am cold/hot, my neck and shoulders are killing me from aches and the burning feeling is constant. Which has now started to move down my back. Plus I'm just so tired.

Is this all normal? Does this means the bacteria is dying or do I need another antibiotic?

I see my LLMD in a month and he is going to test me for co-infections (felt it was too soon to test me last week - got bit on or around July 20), but I think I am going to call him to tell him this. But I wanted to know what was the norm as well as opinions.

Any help much appreciated.

I'm sorry that I have no answers for you, except to say that I am going through the same thing.

I went through the herx initially and then started to feel better (other than extreme fatigue and minor aches).

Yesterday and today, though, I feel terrible.

I am hoping for both of us that this is just our second round of herxing...

Best of luck.
