I have been experiencing some bloating and stomach extension mixed in with some cramping and constipation. I have been taking Doxy, then switched to the non-generic brand Doryx and it seemed to get better for a day or two.
I usually take 2-4 oz of Kefir and 2 pills of Acidophilus with meals.
When I spoke to my doctor, I mentioned the stomach issue and he said that I am taking too much Acidophilus. That I should cut back a dose and take it twice a day versus 3, but leave in the Kefir.
Has this happened to anyone else? Can you really take too much?

Forgot to mention that I am trying to start to follow a candida light menu also. Waiting for my new cookbooks to arrive.

the side effect may very well be temporary and not necessarily from the probiotics.
doxy and/or dornyx is a very powerful drug.
what is the strength of your probiotic and how many do you take in a day? how many cultures/strains per capsule?

Well the one I have at home is Probitotic 10 and I was taking 2 in the morning and the 2 acidolphilus pills at lunch and then at dinner and 2oz of kefir in between it all.
For the Doxy, is 100mg twice a day powerful?
I was reading the supplement list and was wondering if every supplement is necessary? So many pills...gets me confused. But I got a pill box thing for the 7 days.

Sounds like the doxy would be the culprit. It has bothered my son's stomach as well. My LLMD does not believe you can really have too much probiotic.

Agreed. You can't OD on probiotics. It's probably the doxy.

I took Doxy after had a nasty fever. It probably was not Lyme, but it really was hard on my stomach. I do not have stomach problems normally with anything else. Doxy is a killer on the stomach.

I am on Doxy and I also have stomach issues with it. I am taking prilosec for my stomach, but you have to take it several hours away from the doxy.
Also, my LLMD doesn't seem to think you can take too many probiotics.
Doxy just works on the stomach!

I did switch to that already and took more flax seed/fish oils and feel a little better. Also switched from Splenda to Stevia Plus packets.
