Before I knew I had Lyme I had terrible anxiety otu of nowhere, panic attacks, etc. Now they're back with treatment. My llmd has suggested Cymbalta, says he has good result s with Lyme patients.

I've tried Lexapro, Celexa in the past and they either made me feel worse or the good effects went away quickly, didn't wnat to keep upping my dose.

Frankly I'm afraid to try this stuff (cymbalta) but I think I need some help through the herxes, my rage is getting ridiculous, i'm crying at the drop of a hat and worse, am starting to feel that 'hopeless' feeling again.

thanks for listening. Oh yeah, been there done that with the natural stuff, didn't help me.

There is a post on it by LymeHerx101 with lots of comments

I personally didn't like it...couldn't get past the lowest dose. (too loopy) I can't tolerate lyrica either for the same reason.

My son and husband take Cymbalta. It helps both of them.

Hi, :hi:pugs, you have to try different ones, as you have until you find the one that works best for you.

I was on cymbalta for 2 years did nothing but cry every day, several times and then had my first "anxiety attacks". Finally went off of it tried effexor with no help then tried lexapro and it is the best one for me.

We have to try different things out to see if they work for us. One kind will work for me really well but for you it may not work at all.

I think you are doing the absolute correct thing in trying different ones and now try the cymbalta--it may be the perfect one for you. I also understand from my drs. that it can also help with physical pain too. I think it may be the one that will work for you! Good luck.

I'm sorry but I am no longer accepting any private messages due to my own battle with lyme.

The depression and hopelessness are terrible feelings, I know how you feel.

I personally can't seem to take any of the SSRI antidepressents (Cymbalta, Lexipro, Paxil etc) without having bad side effects.

I take remeron, its in the same drug class as elavil, but has much fewer side effects. It does make you sleepy, so take it before bedtime. It has helped me a lot. If Cymbalta doesn't work for you, you might want to consider this other drug class of antidepressents

Sorry, I haven't checked this thread ina while. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

I'll check out the other thread on Cymbalta. Awaiting to see if it will be covered if not llmd has samples. I'm learning so much little by little and trying to understand what everyone posts. [group hug]
