I had a recent LD appoint with a well known Dr in the treatment of Lyme disease.
My 3 new additions are malarone 250mg 2x a day,minocycline 100 mg 2x a day, and rifampin 300 mg 2x a day.
I am preparing to start tomorrow, so was looking up interactions etc. I was warned by someone the malarone wasn't a good mix, but I always follow my dr's instuctions.
I found this..."Rifampin known to reduce malarone levels by approx 50%&34% respectively. The administration of Malarone & Rifampin not recommended." So I take that to mean taking them together, reduces the effects of both. Yes?
I am just dumbfounded and looking for thoughts of others on this combo. Would mino and rifampin be a good combo, I have not taken either of these yet, although my LD told me I might be in that 5% that doesn't get well. I have only been in treatment probably a little less than 1 1/2 yrs.

I took that combination. I took the Rifampin and Malarone at different times. I can't say it was a good combo, I did better, but it's different for everyone.
