Please let me know if you are using Plaquinil (sp) for the cyst form of Lyme. If yes, do you think it is working?

Any thoughts?

It's a commonly used cyst buster often combined with Biaxin. It has helped many when used in the right kind of protocol. What else are you taking Hopeful?

Plaquenil affects everyone uniquely. Many tolerate it very well. It's been used for years as an arthritis med. The major risk with Plaq is possible eye damage, but this does not usually happen unless the med is used for many months and even then may not cause problems necessarily.

Personally, plaq was very tough on me. I had eye strain and other side effects within the first few weeks of starting.

Don't let this deter you from trying it though. It works well for many.

I took Plaquenil. My LLMD said it was a mild cyst buster, made the Biaxin or Zith work better, and was anti-malarial.

Thanks. Lymeorsomething. I am currently 200 mg a day (may increase) and 500 mg of Zith every other day. I will be adding IV Rocephin hopefully today.

I don't have an LLMD and am currently using the "fly by the seat of your pants" method. I plan to see an LLMD but there is no one close by.

I have been on Rocephin before. My thought is that it won't work if there is no cyst buster. My doctor doesn't like Flagyl. He gave me Plaquinil for recently diagnosed Sjogren's syndrome and probably also Lyme but he doesn't believe in the cyst form of Lyme.

cheers

I haven't had a problem taking plaquenil.

I am on it now and I was on it at the beginning of my Rx too.

Of all the posters.. who use or have used plaquenil.

Has your doctor told you specifically that he wanted you to take it for cyst busting?

I have heard that use and also anit protozoan and also anti inflammatory and also it changes the PH which in turn helps the other abxs your taking work better on killing the infection.

???

I'm on plaquenil right now. I'm ab out to start flagyl, I think, Wedneday.

I'm pumped! I know this is the next step and I'm ready.

Plaquenil, Rocephin, Doxy- that's what I'm on now and have been for 2 months (my first 2 months of treatment).

step 3 = 3rd month = flagyl time
