I called my primary since the Rheummy hasn't gotten back to me. well he never faxed my primary my bloodwork reports either.
the only reports they have are from the blood work they drew. The receptionist said that bc i had a positive ANA that is why the Dr. sent me to the rhuemmy. she will call him again today and request them.
I totally don't even remember i had a positive ANA. I dont even know what that means.
so, that is the only little breadcrumb of info i have now. I had a positive ANA from the primary.
and the rheummy told me i am positive for lyme exposure.
Is positive ANA associated with LD???

A positive ANA can mean autoimmunity (like lupus) which is handled by a rheumatologist.
Infections such as Lyme can also cause a positive ANA, and if that is the case, then the ANA will go down, or even turn negative, with treatment.
Some perfectly healthy people have a positive ANA for genetic reasons.
Since you are positive for Lyme, your ANA is probably positive due to the infection. It may resolve with antibiotics.
For some of us, Lyme seems to trigger autoimmune illness. For those of us for whom this is true, the ANA does not become negative with treatment.
ANA's fluctuate, and there is not really a correlation between severity of autoimmune illness and the ANA level. However, with an infection, people report that it does go down with better health.
What is your actual ANA level? Under 1:40 is normal. It jumps in increments so that 1:160, then 1:20, then 1:640, then 1:1280, etc. Mine is 1:5120, which sounds awful but it went up in jumps.

My LLMD told me that it is just an inflammatory marker.
He said he sees alot of his lyme patients, including me, who have a positive ANA which can convert to normal with treatment.

I wish i could answer what my numbers are but i have no clue.
This is all new to me and I am learning now that i need to have them give me copies of my records or tests b/c i didn't even realize i had an ANA. And if they told me I guess i forgot.
As for being positive for Lyme...actually the rheummy made it clear by saying "I did not say you have LD...I said you have Lyme Exposure". Huh?
In the meantime, i have not had any blood tests since then and i haven't gone back to him.

Yes I have elevated C3a and C4a...positive ANA , positive sojgrens antibodies(just showed up a few months ago)
tiptoe- I would try to get copies of all your labs...if you know what lab ran the test depending on what state you live in you can request them from the lab directly. I know both Quest and Labcorp do this for certain states.

I had positive Ana, low titer. Described as smooth
muscle, speckled. Which according to my doc could
be anything from a splinter to cancer. It was Lyme.

I had positive ANA, speckled before Lyme diagnosis and treatment.
Although my Lyme is not gone (or I'm far from symptom free), by ANA has been normal for a few yrs.

I had positive ANA before lyme diagnosis, and had Lupus symptoms.
After lyme is now gone...I still have the ositve ANA and minimal lupus/auto immune symptoms.
Was hopihng it wuld go away like some after lyme and co-infection treatment.
My immune dysfunction is still present. Hoping some of the metal/candida/ pathogen removal will continue to lighten the load on my immune system.
Think my remaining dental problems are a major contributor the the immune dysfunction. Many have stated a connection.
