Any thoughts on things that make you feel better?

1. A really good nights sleep - I can't believe the difference if I actually sleep. I must confess I do have the help of a few chemicals to aid in this process.

2. Sunshine - for whatever reason, I physically feel better when I go out in the sun. I live in CA so it's easy for me.

3. Exercise - there may be nights where this is a case of moving my body around for 5 minutes. I always feel better after I do it. It gets the blood moving.

4. Focusing on other people's difficulties - It's nice to step outside myself and stop obsessing about how I will fix Lyme.

5. Being grateful - when I start the day off being grateful for the things I can still do like drive a car, walk up the stairs... My day physically goes better.

Anyone else?

Reiki!

My husband and I are both trained to do Reiki. It's amazing and wonderful and every other positive adjective you can think of.

The initial training, of course, costs money. But after that, you have a lifetime of healing possibilities!

Example of how it helps on a daily basis: Today I was out running errands right after taking my morning meds--which includes 400mg doxy.

Usually my stomach handles this OK, but today I was so nauseated I had to pull the car over. I started giving myself Reiki, and I called my husband at work.

"Send me 10 minutes of emergency Reiki?" I asked.

Within five minutes I was able to start driving again. Within 10 minutes I was at my destination and able to get up and walk. Five minutes after that, I felt absolutely fine.

I also get a 30 - 45 minute Reiki treatment every night.

I know that Reiki sounds hippie-dippie/woo-woo, and I was totally skeptical at first, but after the first treatment (given by the woman who eventually taught us), I felt better than I had since before I had Lyme.

Repeated experience has confirmed that Reiki (whatever it is and however it works) really does help!

My list is a bit similar to yours:

1. As you said, a good nights sleep. Lucid dreaming can be amazing (having control over my dreams). I can lucid dream just about any night that I remind myself to control my dreams. I usually enjoy flying around places in my dreams. I wake up in a great mood. It's also nice having sleep where you sleep so deep that you don't remember a single thing between falling asleep and waking up. Sleep helps me more than anything

1. Go out and do something with yourself or with the company of someone else. This can be as simple as getting lunch, going to the store, or taking a walk (even a short one). Try to do something every day that you can, even if you really don't feel well. It may even make you feel a little better or help clear your mind a bit. On days you feel better, do a little more than you normally would, but don't overdo it (I've done this a couple times).

2. Find an acitivity/hobby that doesn't relate to your disease that keeps you occupied, but doesn't wear you out too much.

3. Work on your negative energy, and turn negative energy into positive energy. Negative energy is bad for your health. There is a lot of ways you can do this. One example is that if you are in a long line at a store, and you sense negative energy in those around you, kindly let someone go ahead of you in line. This suddenly makes the people in front of you happy, and in turn makes you happy. Getting rid of negative energy helps you become a positive person. I am still learning this.

4. As mentioned in #3, stay positive and have hope. Even if you had a really bad day/week/month, don't feel discouraged or quit on life. If you don't have true hope and don't become a positive person, you will not recover.

5. Relax. Take a bath, hot tub, hot shower, lay in the sun for a bit, etc.

I'm new to Lyme compared to most of you, and I am still learning. These are just a few things I have learned. I don't always follow my own advice very well, and some days, I get stuck in a mode of self-pity. It's been really hard for me, but I can't get stuck on what happened yesterday. I do have OCD that Lyme has intensified, and I need to work on controlling it.

Good thread.

I will be back to read what others posted but was able to read the first post and my list would be the same too.

I recently started dry brushing again and kind of think that is doing something...it wakes the system up for a moment at least.

I have someone paid by the county that comes in once a week to fix a meal and/or do a bit around the house for an hour.

I always feel better when the kitchen is clean or I have clean clothes or clean sheets on the bed or the floors are clean.

This week she cleaned the bathroom so I have a clean shower.

When I am doing well to take Rosie for a short walk, I enjoy seeing her do what I call her happy dance.

She is usually on leash next to me in the power chair.

So, seeing her enjoy being off leash doing her happy dance is fun.

or just watching her at the dog park is fun too. She enjoys being there now and then too.

Watching a movie that leaves you feeling good about life.

Looking forward to watching CNN Heroes on Turkey Day.

Looking forward to the snow...we get just enough to enjoy it here.

Looking forward to the creeks that show up only during the run off.

Being next to a creek/stream.

Being able to go for a short drive in the car.

A lot of good ones are already listed.

I feel better when I feel accomplished. So even on bad days, I try to figure out what I can do to make myself feel like a contributor to my home and/or my work.

Pumpkin whoopee pies from the Amish market, yummmmeeee! [lol] it's great not having candida issues.

Playing racquetball -- played on Saturday. Then I travelled to NY, I helped my daughter move home from college. Drove the truck about 5 hours after going up and down 4 flights of stairs several times. I was sore until Tuesday.

And yes I'm in complete remission.

I like all of the above to...

Eating!

I'll be more specific.

1. Eating frequently, in small amounts, to keep the blood sugar stable. When you're sick, your body is constantly in need of fuel! (Even if you're not "hungry", which is the tough part)

2. Eating allergen free, sugar free and all natural. I know people are going to say that this takes too much energy and funds, but it really doesn't if you're patient and are smart about it. It's actually doable and trust me...your body will thank you! It scares me to think about the state I could potentially be in if I didn't change my diet.

3. Juicing veggies! You don't have to necessarily go out and buy a whole bunch of special or new ones. Just juice what's in your fridge! It can actually save money because it prevents waste...juice it before it goes bad!

Jumping off cliffs and waterfalls into raging rivers, makes me feel alive inside and out! Howling is also extremely soothing. Can't leave out music...not the trash on the radio, but good solid music that takes me on a journey. [Smile] Too many things to list here...and can't forget the most important ! LOVING!!! [kiss]

When I figure it out, I'll let you know.

I always have pain. Some days aren't so bad and others or horrible. I haven't been able to determine what, if anything, makes a difference.

I'll write up my success story soon. I noticed I didn't seem to need supplements any more. If I exercise, my muscle recovery is much less. Like if I workout for two hours, my muscle recovery is about 2 hours most times. I worked out 2 hours a day for 6 straight days.

My sleep has returned to normal. I can eat anything I want without repercussions. It's been a long journey from where I was a year ago. All this without ABX.

I still use the LED, probably always will.

I liked everything WildCondor posted, except to add friendship from all the folks I've met in the lyme world.

I'm really feel quite blessed and quite thankfull for all the help I've received from many folks here. You've all in someway helped guide my path.

Of course, how could I forget music.

Wonko, I like that one. I'll have to cultivate that one into my life. Make a goal each day of accomplishing something.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Let's keep this one going. It helps us to stay positive and see the light at the end of the tunnel.

These are repeats, but...juicing. Juicing makes me feel good mentally, like I am pouring in all this great nutrition into my body to try and give it the upper hand, and it taste good too. Makes me feel like I at least have some control over my body.

Also music. Nothing like listening to a great song to soothe the soul. Turn on a great song and it just feels like you come alive.
