Someone posted on Lymenet that the way to get rid of tooth darkening was an ultrasonic toothbrush. They couldn't have been more right in my case. The deposits on my teeth weren't brown, but rather black! After only a single use I could see a dramatic difference. Each brushing seems to show even more improvement. I can smile again. That is Lymenet at its best. Someone took a few moments and improved the quality of my life.

I used one of those, too, but I was wearing braces through most of my treatment, so it didn't help quite as much. I got the black, not brown teeth, too!!! So gross! I'm glad it helped!

Sonic toothbrushes help, but it seems that whenever I go on antibiotics, brownish deposits show up especially where my teeth are a little crowded.
My dentist and I agree this is something that is greatly related to the treatment. The question is it a result of die off or defensive biofilm of one of the serious pathogens (if it was, wouldn't scraping it off and sending it to a lab reveal an easier diagnosis?), or simply a change in the normal flora of the mouth.
I'm leaning towards the second one. I find that sonic toothbrushes and a good mouthwash can help. Exxcel Oral Blue is physician only, but is actually a surfactant that can help break up plaques and similar oral issues.

Black deposits are what I have. I just got back from a dental cleaning. I'm on the every three months program until I'm off abx (hopefully some day right). I don't know about brown deposits, but for the black one's my sonic brush really helped. Now, after my cleaning, I practically look like a movie star (except for all of my non-movie star aspects).

Yes it happened to me while on tetracyclines. Interestingly enough when I did a series of Vit C IV's the brown staining in crevices didn't return after a dental cleaning.
