I haven't. I have read that you shouldn't take milk thistle with it.

Copying from a previous post of mine.
Some notes from my conversation with the pharmacist around August of 2007.
I called and talked to Dawn, a pharmacist at GlaxoSmithKline. She said that the use of Doxy with Mepron could reduce mepron blood levels by as much as 40%. It is not listed in the Mepron prescribing info but it is in the Malarone info.

I agree with TerryK. I was informed not to take doxy while on Mepron. It will reduce the Mepron blood levels thus reducing its effectiveness..

Absolutely true. Not just doxy, but minocycline (which I was on for years) and tetracycline; any of the tetra derivatives will reduce Mepron by about 40%.

The tetracylines decrease Mepron effectiveness, as state above. But sometimes, LLMDs go ahead and prescribe them together if a patient is seriously battleing lyme and erhlichiosis and/or bartonella.
Also, you should not take Rifampin and Mepron together.
Milk thistle reduces meprons effectiveness.
You have to take each dose of mepron with 23 grams of fat, so that the full dose is absorbed into your body.

oh, and there is some patient evidence that taking plaquenil and mepron can cause serious side effects for a few individuals. But no one seems to understand the mechanism for this, or why it is only a problem for a few people.

My son is on Rifampin and Mepron together and is doing well on this. It is my understanding that the Mepron can become less effective from the Rifampin. I try to give them 2 hours apart just in case. Amanda - is this what you heard as well?
