Hi everyone,
I have been taking Dr. Zhangs Artemesea for two years (along with Mepron and zith). I just can't afford Dr. Zhang anymore.
Do you know of other, quality sources of artemesea that cost less?

I bought some from Swansonvitamin.com Artemisia annua is also called wormwood. I got the full spectrum wormwood. I know it works as I can only take one a day and feel horrible and get burning sensations legs etc. I take 1 for 2 days then off 5.
Have you been on mepron and zith for 2 yrs?

Zil, yes I have been taking Mepron and zith for two years now. I spent first 6 months at too low a dose, 1 tsp 2 x a day. Then went up to 2 tsp, 2 x a day, and now 1 tablesponn 2 x a day.
Funny thing, I don't really have much in the way of symptoms, except that it supresses my immune system, and is keeping me from getting over the lyme.
Through some miracle, the insurance has paid for most of the Mepron and zith....

- Be careful as not all sources are equal. Wormwood is not the same as artemisinin, just in the same family. It can be of some help but is not as strong or as specific.
--------
Try the link for Artemisinin from Allergy Research Group:
You want to find good quality Artemisinin. But it's never supposed to be used alone. Hepapro's brand is a formula which is also intended as part of protocol.
Babesia always requires combination treatment. That can rotate but always combination. So, if you continue on Mepron, that would cover you as the combo part.
Now, with all said about needed the "extract" strength of artemisinin, sometimes the whole herb, the original source, is very good to use either in rotation or combination. The whole herb contains some things extracts don't and visa versa.
But, if you've been taking this for two years, you might need a break from it totally. Since you are taking Mepron, I assume you have a LLMD so can discuss this with him/her. Sometimes, our bodies do better with a change.
Also be sure to scrutinize the source, the grower, the processing site, etc. Some cheap herbs are not worth the price.
But I clearly understand the need for a far more affordable way to do our job. -

Thanks Keebler
As long as I take the Mepron, I am "stable" (although suffering a lot from lyme). But when I stop taking it, I decline fast and hard. It is really doing a number on my white blood cell counts....

Hi Amanda. I also did the mepron thing, 2 tablespoons twice a day, with zith. Make sure it is with zith, as Keebler says, ...must be in combination therapy, and biaxin is not as good an adjunct.
Have you tried adding bactrim to your babs therapy. Maybe insurance would cover that? And that would be cheaper?

Hi Mary,
Yes, I have been taking zith along with the mepron and Dr. Zahngs art combo (and bicillin shots and ceftin). Also tried flagyl for a while, then plaquenil with no luck.
But, I haven't tried bactrim, do you know if it is good for lyme as well?
